I really am enjoying watching you build this tractor. It's been fascinating from start to (soon) finish.

ebinmaine 67,513 #354 Posted January 7, 2019 So Kev Listen, I'm a helpful guy It's what I do. I help people. I just want you to know that if your woman is not 100% ecstatic with that tool box I'll be happy to take it off your hands. In fact, why take a chance on it??? why don't you just go ahead and throw that thing in a box and send it over here to Maine and I'll put it on some kind of tractor that I haven't even built yet. 1

Pullstart 62,892 #356 Posted January 7, 2019 Well, actually , I would... but then I’d have to unbolt it. And we all know I’d rather not spin a wrench if I didn’t have to...

19richie66 17,508 #358 Posted January 7, 2019 So how did you end up bending it?

Ball end mill to make the groove, then clamped it to a bench, and clamped a thicker piece of steel to the “tab” needing bending for the front. The sides I pushed down against the bench with the box upside down and the rear, with the front tacked up I clamped some OSB to the back of the panel and lifted it up. Worked pretty slick, just had to move clamps and my force a bit with the wide pieces. It wasn’t too difficult, I’m glad for the grooves for sure! 3
Pullstart 62,892 #360 Posted January 9, 2019 Playing around with fender placement.... I currently have about 1” clearance between the tire and fender. A couple of my filthy Putt Putt for my only reference... initial placement... current standings...
Pullstart 62,892 #361 Posted January 9, 2019 Remembered the 753 donor had a set of stirrups. I might have to bag the floorboard idea.
Chris G 3,296 #362 Posted January 9, 2019 The tool box and fender placement look pretty good and the stirrups seem to fit well. Great job on that box though.

WHGuy413 2,689 #365 Posted January 9, 2019 This build is awesome. @Crazywheelhorseman had mentioned building a hydro round hood to me at one point and the idea has never left me. Really digging how this one is coming out. Keep up the good work.
19richie66 17,508 #366 Posted January 9, 2019 Definitely fits the look. Those big tires and fender/Pan combo looks great.

Pullstart 62,892 #368 Posted January 9, 2019 Thanks Fellas! I think this is much more tractor (and build) than I had anticipated, bringing home the 753 back in October. It wasn’t as much thought out, but thinking “what parts do I have on hand to make Momma a round hood of her own?” I’d love to say that everything else just fell into place, but I’m forcing it into submission 👍 2

Doing the buildwork on these is a lot of the fun of having them around.
WHGuy413 2,689 #370 Posted January 9, 2019 You will get it done and be dreaming up something you can build for yourself. These things taken time. 1
Pullstart 62,892 #371 Posted January 10, 2019 My father in-law stopped by last night, he said that work has been crazy busy with their move (where I got all the racking for my back barn) but he cleaned up the welds on the fuel tank and started welding it again. He said it’s welding pretty good! I hope it’s back on Frank soon!
