A few years ago I bought a hoist that is used to move people from beds , into tubs etc from Goodwill for $25.00 rated to lift 500 lbs. I move engines , jack up tractors . Has nice wheels just like an auto hoist for engines etc. I would send you a picture but I am too lazy to walk out to the shed. Here you go Jim and Eric...its wrapped around the "Blue wrench" tanks, used this very "hoist" to yank the little 3 cylinder Daihatsu diesel out of the 523Dxi.
elcamino/wheelhorse 9,360 #52 Posted October 10, 2018 @WVHillbilly520H and @ebinmaine I have the same hoist , I like the way you can adjust the width of the front wheels . Narrow width for storage and wide for lifting. Works great. Eric check out estate sales .

ebinmaine 70,708 #56 Posted October 11, 2018 I ordered this Unistrut trolley the other day. This particular one has a 600-pound load limit. To start with I'm going to put up a 4 foot wide piece of Unistrut and hang this from it and that will make it so I can pick an engine up and move it 4 feet one way or the other. Perhaps later on I'll add two more pieces of Unistrut to the ends and increase my movement potential.

ohiofarmer 3,333 #58 Posted October 12, 2018 Ok, first off, i am blessed to have all the floor jacks, low motorcycle lifts, portable engine hoists, come alongs, ect. I even have a motorcycle lift table that is 30x96 and will lift two thousand pounds. For the specific job at hand, this little lift will go fron 2.5 inches to 30 inches. Just put a nice piece of 3/4 ply on it and walk that engine off the tractor. I use it for so many things that I cannot afford to be without it. One time I used it to lift a Honda gold wing, after cleaning it up, I set the front forks on a stand and used a chain fall from the ceiling to put the rear on a stand. Then I put the lift on a dolly and was able to nudge the engine loose from the frame and driveshaft by wiggle and slight lift and lower. Just an outstanding tool. So take a 20% off coupon and it is 124.00 plus tax! Outstanding bang for the buck and about ten minutes to assemble. If I had the time, I would use mine as a pattern and make my engine lift into a larger version to put stuff on shelves https://www.harborfreight.com/high-position-motorcycle-lift-99887.html
ohiofarmer 3,333 #60 Posted October 12, 2018 (edited) So here we are start to finish with the engine in the frame, The bike suspended and preparing to lift the engine out, engine free, a little bridge to slide the engine to my rebuild cart, and the final picture with the engine ready to change some seals and refurb the starter. BTW, you have to scroll down the previous post to see all 5 pictures Edited October 12, 2018 by ohiofarmer

ztnoo 2,299 #64 Posted January 22, 2019 (edited) Eric, You best not let MSM or social media run across this pic of you commanding your wife to do heavy, back breaking, dangerous, toxic masculinity commanded slave labor, or your peaceful little place in the Maine north woods may be overrun, by crazed, frothing at the mouth, pseudo-reporter types looking for the next outrageous story to feed to the frenzied masses wandering cyberspace. You've been warned once. My obligation to inform you has been fulfilled. 12 hours ago, The Tool Crib said: But here's how you move a K341 from floor to Tractor frame. I've seen her spar. Lucky for me she has a very even-temper... We've been together over three years and I've never seen her anything more than slightly frustrated. As I stated in the previous post, she knows her capabilities, and her limits and she doesn't push her luck. She doesn't even bother to tell most people.... She's just not really set up for bragging. But I'll do it for her. She has several dozen trophies.

Sarge 3,464 #75 Posted January 25, 2019 I gave up carrying those cast iron spine wreckers a few years ago - especially after the second hernia operation and the scans of my lower spine. One more injury, I'm done - so I use the engine hoist. Moving that thing around in itself is bad enough. I don't need to be injured any further and the next time they tell me it may end my career and a lot of other things. I used to be the skinny guy that could more than carry his own weight, but those days are over now. I'm sure you're gal is in more than top condition, but there are not only limits but also time-weighted damage being done - keep that in mind. Sarge
