Sparky-(Admin) 21,547 #1 Posted September 21, 2018 So I have a rat rod tractor (656/Honda yank start). Wrong hood, wrong motor and wrong seat. I’m painting up a set of rims today for it and don’t want to go with traditional linen beige and I hate white rims on anything. Just shot em with grey primer and while it was still wet and shiny I thought it looked good. Thoughts? Opinions? I was originally going to finish them in a semi-gloss black but I’m second guessing myself. Interested in what you guys think. 4
Machineguy 877 #2 Posted September 21, 2018 (edited) Black or Silver looks good on about everything! Although color matched red or body colored wheels with black hubs and chrome lugs would be cool too! Edited September 21, 2018 by Machineguy

I agree about the black rims....I'm actually considering just clear coating over the grey primer .
oliver2-44 9,929 #4 Posted September 21, 2018 Maybe paint the inner rim circle black then clearcoat
Pullstart 63,201 #5 Posted September 21, 2018 Or a red pinstripe over the grey primer?
Chris G 3,296 #6 Posted September 21, 2018 I like the grey. I am using a touch of grey myself on a build I'm doing now.

pacer 3,174 #8 Posted September 21, 2018 I guess I can also say I like grey/gray (I never know which is which?) I have a Massey Ferguson 1655 that has grey rims against a red tractor and its pretty sharp.
Machineguy 877 #9 Posted September 21, 2018 I see that with all these good ideas that multiple sets of wheels in different colors may be needed?

giddyap 1,569 #14 Posted September 21, 2018 Ace Hardware paint, but not all their rattle cans have a rotatable fan spray nozzle for superior up/down or side/side painting. I will never use the round spray pattern ever again
Sarge 3,464 #15 Posted September 22, 2018 I'd go with an industrial machinery gray - it's a bit darker but has a look like nothing else. Sarge
