Will running a wheel horse with the 8 speed unidrive with wheel weights in all the time destroy the transmission?

NO! Wheel weights were a dealer option and a lot of us run them for years.If you have any transmission issues they are in no way related to wheel weights.If you look at my avatar on the left there are 80 lbs of wheel weight that were installed back when the machine was shiny and new.The transaxle is still fine.

You shouldn't have any issues running wheel weights.

Wheel weights are probably one of the best ways to add weight to your tractor and or filling the tires with liquid ballast.

One of my tractors is over loaded with weight which hangs on the frame. That adds much more abuse than weight added directly to the tires. Never had it weighed but there's a FEL and a backhoe hanging on it since 2008.

Wheel weights are a great traction assist and I have found that they ad stability to your :wh: as well. On my GT-14 I have 80 pounds of wheel weights and filled 8.50 X 15 tires at about  100 pounds (ten gallons each).

Liquid filler tires alone will do the trick in most cases. RV antifreeze is an inexpensive product that lots of us use. The adapter to put the fluid in the tire can be bought at Tractor Supply.

No,  but these will/could cause early failure.

1.  leaking axle seals resulting in low oil in the unidrive.

2. water in the unidrive due to a leaking shifter boot

3. grinding gears when engaging unidrive caused by drive belt not stopping when clutch is disengaged.

4. impact shock ….from stump pulling with a slack chain or hitting immovable objects with a plow or dozer blade
