stanpjr 12 #1 Posted September 3, 2018 Can anyone recommend a replacement ignition switch for a 1968 commando 8. Have an old wheelhorse part number 7262 but searches have shown nothing. 🙏

gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,243 #5 Posted September 4, 2018 The 7262 is the key part number for the 7263 switch. You read it correctly but it is a mistake in the parts list. Garry
Mike'sHorseBarn 3,132 #6 Posted September 4, 2018 Use this switch. I've used many and never had an issue. It's pricey, but I'm and originality nut and I don't like to use a solenoid. https://www.ebay.com/p/Key-Switch-Off-ignition-ign-start-Cole-Hersee-95521b-Wheel-Horse-4988-or-7263/22005879834 Mike
Racinbob 11,720 #7 Posted September 14, 2018 I'm glad I found this thread. The switch on my 854 is bad. I thought about the solenoid thing but there's just something cool about starting these things without the solenoid click so I just ordered the ebay switch. When I get more time I want to see if the seller has a physical store cuz he's only about a half hour away.

I'm like that for some things as well. Normally, on the work tractors we have here, I go for functionality over originality. But in this case.... 19 hours ago, Racinbob said: .... there's just something cool about starting these things without the solenoid click..... I have to agree. I'm going to try this switch.

ebinmaine 70,699 #10 Posted September 24, 2018 I got that switch in the mail the other day for the 1267 and installed it. Really like that different sound those starter generator engines have.
953 nut 57,861 #11 Posted September 24, 2018 This drawing shows what needs to be changed if you do go with the 103-990 five pin ignition switch and a solenoid.
