Manny Bartek 41 #1 Posted August 31, 2018 Just purchased vintage Wheel Horse from estate sale . Family has no information or paper work , stated it belonged to their 93 year YOUNG Father who had just passed away . By viewing your photo's I would guess it as a #953 { 1963 } or a #1054 {1964 } Serial # tag # 42654 , Kohler 9 h.p. engine { K-Seris -Magnum} Tractor / engine runs good , new hydraulic rebuild , lift cylinder . Three speed transmission will need to be opened up , it locks into two gears { Reverse is problem } Very impressed with all that I have seen and read , any assistance greatly appreciated . Retired Wrencher 5,329 #8 Posted August 31, 2018 Manny Bartek Like others I belive a 953 or a 10 because of the set area and the hood. Enjoy it looks like a great worker.
Tractor boy 239 #9 Posted August 31, 2018 as with @Retierd WrencherI agree with his opinion. That’s a very handy lift on the font. You’ll like that when you have to plow or push dirt around. -Tractorboy
953 nut 54,381 #10 Posted August 31, 2018 (edited) Based on the serial number you have a 1054. It would be interesting to know the life history of this one as it has had several modifications done. Here is a bit of information on the 953. The 1054 is basically a third generation 1963 model 953 re-badgered for 1964. Pullstart 62,193 #11 Posted August 31, 2018 Imagine if the lift chain was swapped out for a solid link... it would make an awesome grader blade!
Manny Bartek 41 #13 Posted August 31, 2018 Thanks to all of you for your help. The dozer blade is unique it has a 1/2 " thick replaceable wear edge that appears factory or professionally installed by a shop . I plan on down loading any manuals that I can find for it , Transmission will be my first priority . Enjoy all that I can read in Wheel Horse !
