JAinVA 4,619 #1 Posted August 26, 2018 (edited) I am just wondering if you guys have days like this?I decided that I needed to mow the grass around the missus's garden. Before mounting the deck to the 416-8 I decided to freshen up the blades. No way, they were to far gone so I get another set and sharpen them.Grease the spindles, and mount the deck.Open the gate and start to mow.Get to close to the blueberry bushes and snag the bird netting locking up the middle spindle.Run the tractor back to the shop ,drop the deck and spend time cutting away the mess.Remount the deck and head to the garden.Cut the grass and then head to where I have been cutting wood to clean up there, hang the deck and the stick the tractor.Walk 600 feet up hill and get another WH to get the 416 free.Unstick the 416 and run the 520 back up to the house.Get on the 416 to get it back to base and noticed it wants to turn right. On the trip back to the house notice that the right front is flat.Demount the flat and see that the valve stem is missing and the tire is full of fix a flat.Clean the rim and grab a new valve.Mount a used tire and finish the day mowing around the wood shed.I'm tired and feel that nothing got done. WHNJ701 4,165 #4 Posted August 26, 2018 I think we all do at some time, last week I had the 854 out cutting, kicked up a small rock somehow and locked the one blade up and snapped the spindle. yeah it sucks. I keep a bunch spares on hand but ordered up another for the spare parts box. I hate breaking old iron but it's bound to happen sometime and it's the chance you take. had to finish with the 211-4
RandyLittrell 3,877 #5 Posted August 26, 2018 You get props for staying in it that long! About the time I would have seen the flat with the wheel full of grass, I would have went to the house, had a beer or two and fixed it the next day!! Randy

clueless 2,976 #13 Posted August 26, 2018 50 years ago I worked with an old man who called that a buzzard day- "can't kill nothing, won't nothing die". I still call those days that.

ebinmaine 67,266 #15 Posted August 26, 2018 Huge silver lining.... ALL your machine time was time. You got a lot done. No worries. I have those days too. I've learned to set very relaxed goals of what I want to accomplish. I have a tendency to start something then realize I need to do 27 other things first. I find I have days when none of what I wanted to do got done but... like you yesterday... A lot of different things happened. It's all good.

Sarge 3,463 #17 Posted August 26, 2018 Around here, that's just basically any given day of the week. Murphy lives around here somewhere, when I find him he's not going to have an elegant exit from this world... Spent 4hrs yesterday trying to get two welds done in a bad spot with the tig - basically a waste of time. Not to mention, two 2% lanthanated tungsten rods, one whole stick of ER70SD2, my last 1/8" gas stubby lens and an expensive US made carbide burr. It's getting stick welded today, one way or another.
