First, check the fuse...if good..  with the headlight switch on,  jump across the headlight switch. if they don't work, then ohm the headlights themselves..if you get a dead short it is time to check out the wiring...:twocents-02cents:

What is the model number of you 312-8 (Should be on a sticker under the seat.  Some 312-8s had head lights that ran off the AC stator on the engine not the battery,  Those lights would only work when the engine was running.

WHX??

:text-yeahthat:some of my newer verticals are like that. Get us your model and we'll see about getting you a manual/wiring diagram.

While your at the fuses check the socket. often times they get corroded. If you have a multimeter or even a simple tester check for power at the light and work backwards down the wiring to you find 12 volts. If you don't have a simple tester get one.  Handy for other automotive stuff too.

@DerrickH  while I  agree with others on ideas , mine is to move wire connections , like dielectric  grease  to enhance connections , enhance grounding , don,t count on original ground areas , typically rusty / paint / corrosion . like alligator wire clip test wires , to jump over  areas . connected most of my grounding directly to battery ground bolt / cable point . test / check as you go . pete

      Hi Red Square Community,

I am looking into purchasing the below pictured "POND" Walk Away. The unit itself has the cast in “POND” on the chain reduction housing. The two main things I am looking to learn are what value is typical for these to sell for. This one has a Briggs & Stratton model “N” engine. It runs and drives, but the throttle linkage needs some adjusting. It comes with a cultivator and plow implement.

Secondly, I was wondering if there is any way to determine what year specifically this Pond is from. The seller believes late 1940s and not 1950s. I am new to these machines, so I am looking for some guidance. Thank you in advance!

Hi All, I’m a member of the RedSquare Facebook group, some of you may have seen My tractor there. I have a 1992 312-8 with a 37 inch deck. It came with a house my brother bought, and was given to me. It needed work but just minor things. I mow my lawn with it, and I just bought a plow to push snow/dirt so it’s a working restoration. It was relatively well taken care of by the previous owners so it really just needed a refresh. Anyway see you around the site!

I’m looking for wheel horse tractors for sale or for parts in the Eastern Nebraska or western Iowa area. Preferably 8 speed manuals. Pm me or comment with what you have. The worst I could say is it’s out of my price or distance range. Edit: engine is not important, it’s going to get an engine swap.
      Thanks,
      John
