D series PTO shaft

I have a D-160 with the front and rear PTO. Where do I get the parts to make the shaft that goes from the output on the tractor to the tiller. I am pretty sure it is not the same as a standard tractor.

it is not a standard shaft.  They show up from time to time on Ebay but are pricey

Paul B Parts and others. Domestic Weasler 6 series pto standard parts. Paul B has the biggest selection I have found, and sertainly all you need to build a new PTO shaft. A tip is to get a Clamp on U jount part for the tiller side/axle. The std solution is a bit wobbly, and if you want your pto shaft to not wobble, you want it tight and firm all the way.

 

Make sure you have the length set so it wont bottom out when lowering the tiller. That will put pressure on to the input axle, and mess it all up.

 

I have done a bit of research and trial and error on this pto stuff, so just ask away

 

Besides that, The only thing I haven't found a source for is the quick coupler  (part 23). If any one knows where to get it, I would love to know

Part 23 is what I am looking for as well.

I just wonder if those making shaft drive mowing decks have similar size parts.

Really would prefer new ones. Seems a bit strange that they are so hard to find, when everything else for that type pto shaft is so readily available.

I am doing some research on that coupler so I went down to the garage and measured the shaft and tooth count. I get a 1 inch shaft with 14 teeth. Please correct me if this is not correct. Also the diagram does not show the other end of the coupler. What is it like?

It is 1 inch 15 spline.

 

On the D you have the quick coupler going onto the axle, held in place with a roll pin(24). On the C195 it is welded. And in the other end of the quick coupler there is a ring that holds back three steel balls, that locks the pto shaft in place. I am putting the shaft together with all the great information that I have gotten here. Thank you all very much.

The other part I am working on is the three point. I have the lower arms, the hydraulic cylinder and hoses. I don't have the upper arms and the plate that the adjustment bar goes on. If anyone has any good pictures of these parts I can make them up.

These would be parts 7-75 and 7-83 on the parts list.
