It was dropped in a scrap tub along with a 69 Work Horse 700 and the guy I got them from pulled both out before they were lost forever. He’s an older fella that lost interest. In one pick you can see where the excavator bucket tooth grabbed the Sears steering wheel to pull it out of the scrap tub. Anyway, I went for an old Horse and came home with this badly beaten Sears. Needed complete rewire and the differential mount bolts were all sheared from being dropped in the tub. Sickle was frozen but the engine would turn by hand. A couple weeks ago I replaced broken tie rods, freed up the sickle, carb and fuel system cleaned, fixed the diff mount mounts, made a steering wheel adapter and did basic service. Sickle bar works great now! I paid more for the new seat than I did for the tractor. I love saving this stuff! I really don’t like seeing solid American stuff melted down and going to make Chinese made washing machines. That thing sat next to a building on his farm for 15 years before I got it. No telling how long it had been since it ran. Edited July 28, 2018 by Machineguy 3 4
Machineguy 876 #4 Posted July 28, 2018 How do I put a video of it running on here?

Stormin 9,981 #7 Posted July 28, 2018 Well done! Can you post a photo or two of the rear hitch, please. My '78 GT16 did have an electric lift at one time. Sourcing a replacement actuator is proving difficult. And most likely be expensive. I could make a manual one.

From what I’m seeing, it looks like posting to YouTube to establish a URL is really the only way to share the video files.
AMC RULES 37,124 #9 Posted July 28, 2018 Thinking, you might be having problems(not have that ability)... because you're not a forum supporter yet. A dues paying membership here provides you with some "perks" the just visiting public doesn't have. This one has been modified and bent a little but the basic arrangement is still as it should be. It’ll be this evening before I can snap a couple pics. Anything specifically? Also, at one time I would buy actuators thru Motion Industries for automated tooling that we fabricated. I believe McMaster Carr may still carry some too? Not sure on prices nowadays though. Stormin 9,981 #12 Posted July 28, 2018 Mainly the lift lever arrangement, please. There's no rush.

Machineguy 876 #14 Posted July 29, 2018 Thanks! I’m outside now letting it warm up to retune the carb. Went through it again this evening. 1
Machineguy 876 #15 Posted July 29, 2018 (edited) @Stormin Here’s a couple pics. I hope that helps, it’s a simple Cam system that over centers to hold up the attachment. Mine’s rough but then again it was in a scrap tub! Lol I did clear coat the original paint and rusty patina too. Lol Edited July 29, 2018 by Machineguy 2
Machineguy 876 #16 Posted July 29, 2018 @elcamino/wheelhorse Thanks for the compliment! It’s rough but it’s fun and I’m glad I saved it. Was looking for a Horse when I found it. Complete rewire job with a modern switch and solenoid. The old load carrying switch was toast and I didn’t want to rely on eBay if it was down for another.
Stormin 9,981 #17 Posted July 29, 2018 Thanks for the photo's, Machineguy. They'll be handy for when I get around to making one up.
