ebinmaine 68,514 #1 Posted July 25, 2018 See the attached pic and tell me what the doodads at the top are for please. I've had these things for years and years and years and have no idea where I got them or why they are here.

McGrew 460 #3 Posted July 25, 2018 (edited) Eric, I looked at your picture and have to admit I had no idea... I googled “Meyer Plier”, and cane up with lots of images. I believe your pliers are missing some parts. Those pliers used to work as a C clamp, but you are missing the male threads and the female threaded sleeve. What I don’t know is whether they had a specific use, or if the just doubled as a pair of vise grips and a C clamp...Google the name and see what you think? https://www.kimballmidwest.com/All-Products/Tools/Pliers/84117 Edited July 25, 2018 by McGrew

I think its just a "multi-tool" that allows you to have a c clamp, wire cutter, pliers and vise grips in one tool... Kinda cool...
Cvans 1,009 #9 Posted July 26, 2018 You can clamp the tool to something solid and then hold your project in the vice grips or the other way around. Makes good sense to me if you need a third hand or don't want to be hauling a vice around with you.
oliver2-44 9,875 #10 Posted July 26, 2018 I've seen fab shops use those to set up a temporary jig for small runs that weren't big enough to justify a full special built jig.
Pullstart 63,113 #11 Posted October 10, 2018 I figure that you can just hang them up on the idea of a work bench with those nifty tabs.
