kto434 108 #1 Posted July 15, 2018 Hi. I wonder if anyone here has replaced a failing solid state ignition module on a Tecumseh HH100 motor with a Ford ABS sensor/Chevy HEI module/coil and, if so, is willing to share any tips, pics, comments re dependability, etc. The solid state ignition module is failing on my Charger 9 and I am evaluating whether to try the conversion mentioned or should look to repower. Any comments are welcome. Thanks!
roadapples 6,983 #2 Posted July 15, 2018 (edited) A man named Ed Stoller has this all figured out. I think he used a Chrysler module. http://home.earthlink.net/~edstoller/id5.html. Tecumseh Solid State Ignitions Replacement You'll have to type in the whole thing. Won't work clicking on red part... John2189 476 #5 Posted August 19, 2020 I did the Ford and gm convention from the guy on u tube. It starts and runs good until it gets to 3/4 and above throttle, then it doesn’t stop backfiring until you let off the throttle. I suppose the timing needs retarded. I’d have to slot the angle iron holes to adjust it. But it’s ok for using the sickle mower since you don’t need the high rpms to run it. You could not use it that way with a belly mower. john
