I wonder how many tiles I’ll break trying to put a square hole in one before I settle with a couple extra grout / cut lines?

So far, so good.  I drilled holes with a diamond bit.  Now I’ll head to the shop for some cut off wheel action.

One could take that as my first impressive work ever, but I’ll take it as impressive for the first attempt ever :ROTF:

From a tradesman, I appreciate the comments!  I’ve never tiled a wall, or a cubby.  Just one floor before this, with 16” squares.  Early on in this thread you can see the first bathroom I did out of a family room.

I was roughing in for a second bathroom for an older lady....she hired the tile guy which was fine by me cuz I was so busy.....well she was not pleased at all with his work.....I had to go in rip all the tile back out n redo it. I cant beleive the guy even chipped a 550 dollar W.C. that I put in, its funny how if one takes pride and with only a little skill knoledge a job can look like gold. Your tileing blowes this other guys out of the water.....trust me, and tile was his business lmao.

Couple good life rules.

1. Don’t sweat the small stuff.

2. Everything’s small stuff.

Feels so good to be on the downward slope to completion!

Remember that. Always.

You're doing some great work in that bathroom.

I'm glad it's nearing completion and I'm sure you are as well.

WE need to get back to shop time and tractor projects!!!

Wait a minute.  You’re saying when I finish my bathroom, you’ll get to work on. Colossus?

Actually I'm hoping to get some stuff done on it tomorrow.

I don't think I'm going to be able to keep up with @19richie66 Richie but I'd like to get a rolling chassis so I can move it around...

My inspector stopped by today.  We passed!  He might even have a 312-8 for me if his buddy doesn’t want it... FREE!

Cool!

btw. To cut out tiles, there are tile pliers available.

Here is a pic about what i meant.

Round holes are a way easyer to make.

but on rect holes i would also do it like you buddy - predrill, but i would cut the parts with a bigger border and finalize later with a tile pliers or a reworked (smaller flexed) pincers in smaller steps to its final measure.

That takes more time, but saves some tiles.

a bit of loss is normally, i have heard.. 😂

These are here on loan from my mother in law, but I don’t use the. Too much... just little trimming.

My tiles are laid!  It’s time to head to my brother’s place for a Christmas overnighter and let this all cure for a day or two!

Pushing again after some rest to get this finished up.  I am using some old sanding pads to wet sand the haze from the stones.  The dark ones are really starting to pop now, but I’ve worn my sanding pads smooth.  I’ll pick some more up in town tomorrow morning.

It looks like your getting close to finishing. This would be about where most contractors would leave this job site & move on to start another job. Knowing this, it might be a good time to break off now and start on a :wh: project.:D
