Not mine...  but not sure when it’ll ever leave the shop.  So I use it :handgestures-thumbupright:

Small victories...  huge gains!  Got all the uprights in place, now time for more crossmembers and decking and organizing!

I mentioned the other day that the transmission in my plow truck went... I lost reverse just like that.  I got it pulled this morning and ran a quick 5 hr round trip to the shop I got it from.  The warranty expired on January 15, but they helped me out with a decent deal that I couldn’t refuse.  I can’t get the parts to do it myself as cheap as they can do the job including labor and a good torque converter.  Now it’s a 3-5 day wait to saddle up and go get it again.

At least they didn’t just blow you off over the warranty. Doesn’t happen as often as it used to.

He wasn’t so pleasant in person, but one of his employees was nice enough to help me unload it and take some notes.  I hope all goes well...

i am a bit surprised they did that given that it was a plow truck.  Never ever want to buy a used plow truck...

I agree...but it was worth a call.  On my defense, I do make sure I come to a stop before shifting which is a huge transmission killer, plus I have a big finned aluminum pan and auxiliary cooler to keep the temps down.  This truck had a “fresh rebuilt” transmission when I bought it and the reverse went out the first time I plowed with it.

It’s 3 pm, I’ve got a rebuilt transmission, new torque converter and an external filter that I plan to install on the return line from the cooler.  They do that on race cars, I might as well on my plow rig.

A little dressing, I bet it’ll work.  Silver lining, the TC needed a bit more turning and seating into the pump.

Hi Kevin,

it seems you're lost by fortuna...

pressing my thumbs, it will last and will be stable enough and close, that you can work again.

A thing i asking myself everytime about warranty, why did they offer a Warranty

if the found about 200 reasons to get out?

Just as an "Marketing gag" to Sale? It seems to me so.

Independent if a truck is used for snow plow or for some other reasons,

Trucks shall be build for Work, with this arguments they advice.

If the Tranny dies before lifetime was reached the Things shall be clear to me.

(continouse Service must be done)

When it pulls heavy Trailers, the Gear has also to handle the force as by pulling a Snow Plow.

Exception by normally wear matreial like Dampers, Springs, Joints they stronger used under heavy Work.

But The whole Drivetrain must handle the Force the Car or Truck delivers as i find.

Independent by the use.

I see sometimes our Post guy's how they rape their trucks, mostly harder as any Snowplow can do, i bet.

Special in Wintertimes they rush the Trucks in deep snow and rape the Truck

fore back fore to get out again after delivery they are allway's in strong hurry and trust me,

they don't do this carefully at all.

Here also the Drivetrain must last under extreme hardcore use.

Warranty is a thing i allway's ask myself about, everybody tries to give you before Selling

and if you have once trouble, the try to do anything to get out of.

Not very seriousely in my humble opinion, hope you do better experience.

      1947 Empire (Jeep) Tractor

The Empire tractor consisted of military power components from World War II-era jeeps. It had a 4-cylinder, 40 hp Willys-Overland engine, a Model T-84 Spicer 3-speed transmission, Spicer transfer case with high and low speeds, Willys rear end, steering column and gearbox. It also had PTO, individual clutch-type rear brakes with a stop provided for parking and a rear belt pulley. The fuel tank and an Empire-style seat were mounted on a large operator's platform (made from Navy ship decking). Its simple, basic gauges (ammeter, oil pressure and temperature), ignition switch and starter button also came from the jeep. The Empire tractor was originally made for exportation in the Lend-Lease Program after World War II.

If I had to mention a couple of things that made the Empire Tractor really unique, one would be the straight bar hitch that pulled from under the center of the tractor (patented) thus making an overturn nearly impossible. The other selling point was, of course, the Willys engine and drive train made famous in the Jeep during World War II. The Empire was a well equipped tractor, very reliable and versatile with its wide range of speeds. Today this tractor draws a lot of attention at shows and is very sought after by collectors commanding higher than average prices.

Well fellas I decided to buy a jeep wrangler as a new toy. I have always been into the off-roading scene since I was a kid. I always loved trucks, jeeps, atvs. Recently a friend of mine traded his mustang for a lifted wrangler and its a blast to go off-roading in or wheeling as they like to put it.

I couldn't help myself and wanted to join in so I bought a 1993 with 153,000 miles on it with a ton of add ons for a great price. It has a 5.5" suspension lift, a 2' body lift and rides on 35" tires. She has 4.56 gears which are awesome for crawling, 4wd low range and 1st gear and you don't even have to touch the gas pedal. It is a 4.0L 6 cylinder engine back by a 5 speed manual trans. The rear drive shaft is a custom cv drive shaft with a slip yoke eliminator. The rear axle is a ford 8.8 limited slip with disc brakes out of a ford explorer. The frame is perfect not a spec of rust and was coated with POR-15.

She does have her fair share of issues but I am working on getting those straightened out! I just had the front drive shaft rebuilt and balanced. I ordered all new extremely heavy duty shocks. I need to fabricate 2 custom rear shock mounts as the "custom" ones that were on it broke off lol. She needs 2 new leaf spring packs in the rear. Some body work. A good cleaning after this weekend. Some fender flares. Etc!

If anyone has any good oh crap off-roading or wheeling stories with their jeeps or pictures please share. After this past Sundays experience I could probably top them lol.

I hope you enjoy the pics and the video my jeep was the main attraction. (I did not edit the video a friend did, so turn down the volume or the music might scare you)
