The opening lines of the show came to mind when I saw this. Tractorhead 9,065 #217 Posted December 3, 2018 It seems to me, you did it Wig welded? How was your experiences in Stainless steel welding after that? Found it hard or was it more simple in compare to Aluminum WIG welding? Looks pretty good!

Found it hard or was it more simple in compare to Aluminum WIG welding? Looks pretty good! That is all mig welded with 308 wire. It takes a lot of heat and I didn't use the tri blend of gas on it so harder yet. Now I have a tig welder for next time I weld stainless. Aluminum is much harder to weld because of spool gun use.
Tractorhead 9,065 #219 Posted December 4, 2018 Ah ok, i thought you did it Wig welding. i try WIG last time on Aluminum, in my experience i found it's more complicated than Mig, but the result looks massive better. So Wig just needs more training to get clean seam. Thanks for your info.

So that will be next time.
Pullstart 63,204 #221 Posted December 4, 2018 Stefan, I believe there may be a translation barrier here... TIG for us is Tungsten Inert Gas, it has a hand held torch with the shielding gas and an electrode, with hand held filler rod. MIG is Metal Inert Gas, it has the hand held gun with wire feed filler, sometimes also with flux core (shielded and gasless) wire. what is WIG, I’m assuming that’s our TIG?

fast88pu 3,324 #225 Posted December 11, 2018 I finally got a chance to play with my tig welder and make my exhaust. 2.5" 304 stainless with header wrap on it for heat. Lots of stuff to try snaking 2.5" pipe around and out of the way. 3
