1984 C195 & 416-8 Restoration

So... long winter but spring weekend is finally here. Been working a little on the 416-8. Member here answered my ad looking for a 520 front end conversion so that got installed. I have the frame all prepped and ready for paint tomorrow (hopefully based on temps). The last thing to paint on this machine is the rear fender pan and frame. Here are some photos as she sits.

Well, I am about half blind - and you're right, that does Chevrolet across the hood now that I got close enough to the monitor, lol. Sweet old truck, either way.

The width is bigger on the C195 at 3.25"

where the regular C or 300, 400, 500 series is 3"

Pictures compare a C195 to a forward swept axle off a 520H

As for the length I believe it is the same as the C series

Yes - I knew they used larger spindles on the Super C, just wondered about the basic axle dimensions themselves since it doesn't seem to be discussed much on here since they are so rare.

Well I have both done. I decided to set the 416-8 up to do some pulling in the stock class. Added Firestone’s on 520 rims and fabricated rear hitch, weight bar for under the machine and still need to fab wheelie bars. Here she is as she sits now.

Well done Steve—that turned out amazing! Just need an adapter hitch and 12” Brinly and you are ready to earth with that 416-8!  

 

Cant wait to see how it does in the pulling circuit...
