gapper 22 #2 Posted June 24, 2018 Thank you so much for the pics!!!! Now that I moved to Kentucky a year and a half ago I miss going to the greatest tractor show anywhere!!! I thought I found a All WH show here but after going on the first day of the show and finding NOT ONE PERSON was there but the owner of the farm it was being held at I realized I will miss this show even more!!! 3 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
mustang1970 5 #3 Posted June 24, 2018 Nice show great people HOWEVER a lot of vendors were packing up Saturday morning by 11: 00 this isn't wright for those of us that can't come till Saturday morning the vendors need to stay at least till 3:00. OK OK Wild Bill ... you said this Wheel Horse was in the Wheel Horse Factory Museum ..... so lets hear it. Alright years ago I met a woman on ebay selling Wheel Horse items and we began conversing of which she told me her father work for Wheel Horse when the company was in South Bend and he was the last Director of Quality Control. Then she told me about dad's little tractor. When Wheel Horse moved from South Bend to Bloomington, MN the Wheel Horses that were in the museum ............. wellllll lets just say they all disappeared ! And this Suburban 400 is one of them. I got the fathers phone number and we talked one evening, he told me had several positions at Wheel Horse and when the factory closed he had his eye on a RJ-35 that was in the museum BUT a younger more youthful employee got it so the Suburban 400 was the next mark. I have heard the story about this RJ-35 from another source but have lost track of it. The guy had used the Suburban 400 to cut the lawn (but notice there is a snow plow adapter on the front and hitch on the back) and not much else. He told me the Suburban 400 is no longer used and could be purchased. A deal was made and the family delivered the Suburban 400 to Chambersburg, PA during the Wheel Horse Show while they were on a trip to New York (note this is only one of three times I ever disappeared from the South Mountain Fairgrounds during the Annual Wheel Horse Show the other times were for meetings and groceries) . Not sure how this Suburban 400 will get restored BUT I do know it will be restored with incorrect parts just like it was in the Wheel Horse Museum . P.S. I need to loosen the set screw on the shifter a tad, I believe. It sticks a bit in neutral, but so far it hasn’t bothered anyone. I thought it was odd that it has no air filter and no wiring, then just tonight I realized the fuel tank isn’t stock. Snowblower? I finally found the pull cord I bought for it maybe in October or so?
