Ed Kennell 38,021 #1 Posted June 20, 2018 What was I thinking...when I agreed to remove my new neighbors 100+ year old maple tree. The limbs are over 24" dia. and the stump is over 60" dia. The 20" Stihl and the 22 ton TSC splitter made about 3 cord of firewood from the limbs. This is what I need for the stump. 6

oliver2-44 9,679 #3 Posted June 20, 2018 Quite a job ED! Your a wonderful neighbor! 20 years ago two very large Oak trees fell during a storm in my moms back yard. A "friend" brought over some 48" logger chain saws he bought at an East Texas (piney woods) auction. We quickly learned the chains had bigger teeth for soft pine wood and they bucked us all day long chewing up that hard Oak. Then he had a log splitter made with a 4 cylinder Wisconsin and a garbage truck hydraulic pump. We could even split the gnarly "Y" pieces with that thing.
posifour11 723 #4 Posted June 20, 2018 Lots of plastic wedges and sawing chunks/wedges works pretty well. But, it sure does take longer. It's well worth it for the satisfaction of knowing you can.
