cschannuth 3,816 #208 Posted June 11, 2021 Dad’s ‘78 C-161 cleaned up after it came out of its 8 year hibernation in 2016. He was very picky with his stuff. 6

Thanks, here it is today after a few tweaks here and there. I kept the original tires and wheels so I can put it back to original if I ever want to. It looks much better in pictures than it does in person. Dad thought he was sort of a master painter with a spray can and did little touchups over the years. It’s still pretty original so I hate to mess with it much more. 7

c-series don 8,687 #214 Posted June 12, 2021 @Stormin That’s an EZ Rake de-thatcher. I searched for years for one and finally found one advertised in Lawn and Garden collector magazine classified ads. Originally I believe it was for a Cub Cadet but I fabricated a new mount to fit the front mount tach-a-matic. It works great! Thank you for asking, here’s some pictures before and after I restored it. 3

I have a recently-acquired "passive" Snapper "Thatcherizer" for my 33" mulching rear-engine rider. Its a bunch of spring tines on a frame with a pivoting gage wheel holding it up. It surprised me how much better the lawn looks after using it a few times. I suspect having less thatch lets more rain soak down into the ground before it evaporates off and also its keeping the grass from being compacted. The other surprise was that it isn't "free"--it definitely puts load on the machine (well, duh, raking takes work, man)!
