Dismantling ! (Craftsman)

Recommended Posts

Sparky

So I have a Craftsman GT3000 and have owned it since new in 2001. It’s been (and still is) an awesome machine. But I know at some point small things will quit so I stumbled across an identical tractor to mine minus the motor. Bought it cheap as a spare parts machine. But rather than store an entire tractor I dismantled it and will box up everything I want and will scrap the rest. Took me about 2-1/2 hours to get it all done. Had a blast doing it!!

As long as I can remember I've absolutely loved ripping stuff apart to see what's going on in it.

Most times I didn't even get them back together.

:P

I've always been fascinated with machinery ... Anything from a toaster to an excavator.

Nice workshop you've got to use there sir!

I'm about to do the same thing with an AC916H - with a replacement blue Kohler engine in it ...

Agreed. I have to admit it gives me a different appreciation for that model of Craftsman.

It is beefy. The Craftsman LT series are just simple lawn tractors and wont hold up to any serious work, but their GT series from this era are very robust. Even the hydro which is a Hydro-Gear brand is stout.

I don't know if the Craftsman GT series offered now is still heavy duty. I've looked at them on the showroom floors and I suspect that they have "cheapened" them up.

Save that front bumper. I'll take it.

You're like a one man pit crew down there tearing that thing down in a couple hours.

Sorry John...Tony already laid claim to it for his Craftsman GT. But I know he has a couple that fit the Craftsman LT series...I'm sure he would hook you up with delivery to the WH show. Its a Craftsman part so that deal will have to take place in the parking lot  !!
