ACman 7,618 #1 Posted May 23, 2018 (edited) Looking for pictures of belt / pto setup. I don’t know if I have all the parts to hook up mower and really need to get it going. The parts in the seat are what I have. Edited May 23, 2018 by ACman
ACman 7,618 #2 Posted May 23, 2018 (edited) Also do you think someone added the floor boards or changed the hood ? Looks to be all original but all the images I come across have stirrups with that hood . Doesn’t look like there was ever a 8 in the white sticker on the hood stand . Wouldn’t take much to bring this one back . A seat/reupholstered , escutcheon plate , cap for steering wheel, choke cable , gen/star belt guard and a wet sand/buff . The tractor isn’t here so I can’t get the model/serial #’s Edited May 23, 2018 by ACman
953 nut 55,077 #3 Posted May 23, 2018 Jeff, the mule drive they used at that time is a bit of a head scratchier. The odd shaped cam piece slides onto the deck and a smaller dowel on the frame bracket and the curved piece slides through a grooved wheel. This manual is good at explaining it and I will Take some close-ups of it tomarow.
953 nut 55,077 #4 Posted May 23, 2018 You are going to need a PTO to drive the mower, the Commando now is set up for a old gear drive RD deck.
ACman 7,618 #5 Posted May 24, 2018 I’m betting it was used on this one which came from the same place . Charger 12 runs no smoke but needs a lot .
953 nut 55,077 #6 Posted May 24, 2018 A 42" deck on an 8 HP wouldn't work too well. Here are a few pictures that might help. This cast iron thingey with the cam plate is the heart of the system. It is attached to the deck, held on with a snap ring and has a couple of points of attachment to the tractor. the small at the rear slides over a stud mounted to the tractor frame and the cam thingey slides in a bushing on the forward mounting point. the bolt that attaches to the flat idler bracket tightens the belt and the cam retains tension as the deck is lifted or lowered. May appear a bit cumbersome, but it has worked for a half century!
