Racinbob 10,864 #1 Posted May 4, 2018 A couple weeks ago I was given one of these tagged 10 HP Hardware. Yesterday a friend stopped by and gave me three more. Another 10 HP, a GT-14 and a Lawn Ranger. The part numbers are 200061, 200057 and 200065. It really seems like an odd way to sell common hardware but they are cool. Based on the GT-14 I'd guess they were made in the early 70's. In my decades of Wheel Horsing I've never seen these before and all of a sudden I have four. Anybody have a clue as to what they were thinking? If somebody needed a 1/4"-20 nut would the nut in the Lawn Ranger work because there are none in the GT-14 kit. 8
CasualObserver 3,407 #2 Posted May 4, 2018 Bob that so many unopened packs (and a variety of models) fell into your lap is remarkable! Congrats. I've seen those packs many times over the years, but most of them have been opened and missing one or more pieces of the hardware. If I were to venture a guess it would be that the company somehow took statistical data from dealer orders/sales records on what the most commonly requested replacements were and decided to make these small packs to expedite service and not tie up the time of the service manager or dealer for such trivial requests. These could be displayed in the showroom on the rack for self-service. The laminated card packaging would make it less enticing to try to steal just one small part than if they were in open bins like at the hardware store. Besides, who among us doesn't packrat away an extra piece of hardware here and there because we might need it sometime?

Sparky-(Admin) 21,078 #7 Posted May 4, 2018 Great score! I found these two in a miscellaneous box of parts last year. Unfortunately someone needed parts out of one of the "kits". But they're great wall hangers!
