RJ Hamner 1,007 #1 Posted April 9, 2018 Started tearing down a 1968 K301S for a rebuild. I notice that there is an "A" stamped on both the engine block (right between the valves) and on top of the piston. Is this an "assemblers" mark? Inspectors mark? OR????? I didn't find any marks like this on the 1979 K301 I rebuilt a while ago. Just askin. Bob

Didn't see anything like that on a recent 301 build of mine either. This an original or some been in ther before? Edited April 9, 2018 by WHX16
953 nut 54,382 #3 Posted April 10, 2018 My guess would be a shop rebuilt it at one time and identified the parts this way prior to cleaning and inspection.
RJ Hamner 1,007 #4 Posted April 10, 2018 That would make sense. At least they didn't stamp "This End Up" on top the piston.
