Horse Fanatic 49 #1 Posted February 26, 2009 I'm working on an '88 520H I bought in not running condition. When I rolled it around, the trans was basically quiet. I got the engine running and tried the trans and the lift, both worked. Now when I roll the machine, there is a metallic rattling noise, kind of like a ball bearing bouncing around inside. My other hydro machine has an Eaton 700 and doesn't make that noise and this one didn't prior to starting it up. Anything I should be concerned about? Thanks, Glenn
Docwheelhorse 2,682 #2 Posted February 26, 2009 It's normal and has been covered in previous posts if you want to go digging with the search feature. The rattling has something to do with the pump check valves (balls?) seating and unseating as you roll it---they where probably dry from not running and didn't make the noise---then when you got it running and circulated the oil you woke them up again. Horse Fanatic 49 #3 Posted February 27, 2009 Thank you, that was what I wanted to hear. I did try the search feature before asking and didn't get a match. Glenn
