hummod 0 #1 Posted February 25, 2009 Hello everyone, My name is Larry and my user name is hummod. I am from Sayre, PA and have visited this forum in the past and thought it was time to join. I have owned a Wheel Horse tractor for three years, a 414 Hydro (imagine that) and have started buying a few more since last summer as a hobby. I am up to five now with two donor tractors making seven total. I also have seven decks, three front snow/dirt blades, and one snow blower. My main interest is in the 300,400,500 series but I hope to get at least one older one sometime in the future. I currently own a 414-8 that I converted back to an eight speed, a 312-8, a 416-8, a 518h and a 520h. I hope to get to know everyone here and I do plan to go to the Wheel Horse show for the first time this year. I hope to be able to use this forum as a resource for information as well as maybe add some of my experiences to the mix. I do have a few questions but I will wait for another time out of the introductions section. Thanks for a great forum and a chance to participate in it. hummod 0 #4 Posted February 25, 2009 I wish I had some photos to share. I may have to wait until spring to get them out of storage. The boat blocks them in the Garage except for the 518 that I use to clear the driveway. I am spending time now perfecting my mig welding skills on rusted mower decks. Rollerman 290 #6 Posted February 25, 2009 Larry welcome to RedSquare! Glad you found us & the introduction area. PS...I'm okay with a picture of the boat....I have a few pics of mine in the "non tractor related" area
hummod 0 #7 Posted February 25, 2009 The boat is a Sea Ray that we bought new last year. It probably won't see the water until May. I hope to at least get it out of the way of the tractors before then. None of these tractors are very photogenic right now but I do need some pre- restoration shots. nylyon-(Admin) 7,432 #8 Posted February 25, 2009 Welcome Larry, glad that you found us. I don't think that I've seen a 414-Hydro, looking forward to the pictures.
hummod 0 #9 Posted February 25, 2009 I don't believe hat there ever was a 414h. A friend of mine wanted to make a 518-8 and bought a 414-8 as a transmission donor. He then put the hydro on the 414. I have since converted it back to a 414-8. I still have the low hours 518 hydo taking up space in the garage.

iicap 1 #14 Posted March 1, 2009  Larry. Nice horses. You say not very photogenic, I don't agree. If i get to post my one and only worker they'll prob start a new section on the ugliest old horses still out there doing it , again welcome
hummod 0 #15 Posted March 1, 2009 After taking the pictures I noticed that they do look better than they really are if you were up close. I notice the same thing when I look at Craigs List or eBay photos. I have never walked away from ones I have gone and looked at though. I refer to them as "Diamonds in the rough". iicap 1 #16 Posted March 1, 2009 I like your analogy of "Diamonds in the rough", guess i can classify mine as an "Old Chunk of Coal"
