chevelletown 37 #1 Posted January 22, 2008 My guts were twisted in knots as I listened to my buddy, Mark tell me about a stash of Wheel Horses in a man's barn. Mark lives in a town about 10 min. from me and in the 70's there was a Wheel Horse dealer he worked for after school. Needless to say the town was full of Wheel Horses but the dealer went out of business and many of the little red tactors got sold off or forgotten. Mark said he knew of a guy that had went around picking up some of the tractors as they came up for sale and putting them back in his barn. He wasn't really a collector, just didn't want them to go to waste. After getting pretty worked up I finially decided that Mark had to be full of crap, and just wanted to play with my head. Today he stopped by with an address and phone number! You know how anxious you get when you have to pee real bad? That doesn't even explain how I felt as I dialed that phone number. The guy invited me to come over to his barn and take a look. That 10 min. drive seemed like it took about 6 hours! I'll cut to the chase. I'm the proud new owner of 16 tractors, all are complete and all but 2 run. Here is the list: RJ-35, RJ-58, Suburban 400, Lawn Ranger, 653, 1054, 2-GT14 (one with 3 point), 500 special, A-80, A-90 Special, A-100, B-100, C-160 Hydro, C-175, D-200, and a bunch of attachments I need to sort out. I'm a newbie to the tractor game and now I have a life time supply of reatoration projects, boy I'm going to have a million questions. I can't get them out of his barn just yet but the seller said "they been here this long, a while longer ain't going to hurt. Just glad to see 'em go to a good home". I'll try to get pictures this week.
Rollerman 290 #2 Posted January 22, 2008 :P X 25 X 50 Ken very happy for you....you don't do anything small I take it? Looks like my old C 160 will be in good "crowded" company. Looks like you'll have to drop the "Chevelletown" & go with "Wheel Horse town"?

chevelletown 37 #18 Posted January 23, 2008 You guys are the best! Thanks for all the support! I only wish my wife were as excited about the news As you can probably guess I've been pinching my self all day. My father is going to let me use his barn to store my herd. Its going to be a tight fit but I started moving them today and want to get them home as soon as possible. I'll post pictures when I get them to dad's barn. I am humbled by the kind comments. I didn't earn this herd I just got lucky I'm still new to Wheel Horses and I'm going to need lots of help from you guys. I'm going to try to start by getting model & serial numbers so I can figure out exactly what I have.
Rollerman 290 #19 Posted January 23, 2008 No problem Ken...look forward to seeing the pics & hearing your questions . So have you got a favorite tractor yet? T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,496 #21 Posted January 23, 2008 You have picked up some very desirable tractors. Both RJ's, the Suburban, and I even see a D-series on your list. If you want you can store those at my place. Seriously, though, a very nice, once in a lifetime type, find. Congratulations, man. :D
refracman 167 #22 Posted January 23, 2008 :D Nice haul, just think you can now be like the rest of us guys, when your freinds and family come over and see the herd and start slowly walking away from you and ask the wife if your on your meds :P
Rollerman 290 #23 Posted January 24, 2008 when your freinds and family come over and see the herd and start slowly walking away from you and ask the wife if your on your meds Hmm....seems like it was that was that way even before Wheel Horse collecting. :D
kpinnc 11,877 #24 Posted January 24, 2008 Hmm....seems like it was that was that way even before Wheel Horse collecting. Yeah, since I got a hobby with Wheel Horses, I take less now! Just joking of course, even if my wife does say I need it! Kevin
