cleat 6,859 #1 Posted January 30, 2018 I rebuilt this front hich. Hood hinges were worn so pivot was drilled to 1/2" and a new pin made up. Hood stop was worn and I don't really like how the factory put the cotter pins at the ends where the hood hinge hits them so I made up a new 2 piece design. Here are the plans for the pivot pin and hood stop. Oversize hood pivot pin.pdf Wheel Horse hood stop pin.pdf Cleat 13

cleat 6,859 #8 Posted January 30, 2018 Thanks guys, I have done this to all 4 of my 520's now. Hopefully the 1/2" rod lasts longer than the 30 years it took to wear out the originals . Cleat

Yes, both pins are 316 stainless as well as the cotter pins and washers. Time will tell how it will wear. Good I hope as I now have stainless pins all over my machines. Condo will work as long as it comes with a large shop and garage. Cleat 1

Sarge 3,464 #13 Posted January 31, 2018 I do similar to a lot of stuff, but most times stick to the original shaft size, upgrade to SS and use bronze bearings/bushings to correct wear issues with parts. The stuff should outlive me easily...it made it the way they designed the thing for 40yrs, so I guess these mods should last double that - and be rebuildable to boot.
