I've been soaking the exhaust pipe with PB Blaster and other stuff off and on for several months. Put a pipe wrench on it. Put a 5 foot extension pipe on the pipe wrench. Push down on 5 foot extension pipe and crushed the pipe. That was not bad news to me because it made a snapping sound. So I knew I broke a bead of rust. I rotated the pipe wrench up about 90° and repeated procedure and also repeated the snapping sound. I got the exhaust pipe out of the engine!! 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

No wood stove in the shed yet. I did have a twin head propane heater for a time and 3 electric radiators cookin away. That frame is going in the parts pile. gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,090 #235 Posted November 1, 2018 The Kohler serial number has damage at the 2nd digit but will guess the second number is an 8. Seven digit Kohler serials starting with 50 to 59 were built in 1973. Wheel Horse 1974 model production would have started midway through 1973 (June?) for the October 1973 announcement of the 1974 models. So a 1973 engine on a 1974 tractor is normal. The 1974 model tractors may have started out using the K341S-71113a engine and that is what got recorded. They may have started using the K341S-71128a shortly after so why you have one and when the 1975 models started they continued to use this one so that is how it is recorded. They also used Tecumseh engines so could be Kohler could not supply enough at the time. Your tractor serial number is the highest recorded using a Kohler engine and most of the Tecumseh engines are on higher tractor serial numbers. Perhaps Wheel Horse did not rotate their stock of heavy engines and it took a while to use up their inventory with the oldest being at the back of the shelf - understandable. I would go with the numbers just as they are on the engine. That way you know what you have and is more likely all original than not original. A single part change on a Kohler engine is all it takes to generate a new spec number. An engine supplied to Wheel Horse with a voltage regulator and one without a voltage regulator is two different spec numbers. Saw that happen. I just thought maybe carrying the engine decal black and brushed chrome colors back to the dash and console decals would be a good accent to your beige and cinnamon color scheme. We brought it in to the cellar workshop and set it by the big huge wood stove for a while. This evening she painted it. I have them on the Patriot horse right now just to hold it off the ground and Wow is it easier to drive! That sure is nice. Only thing is... It won't go where I point it in the snow because it's so light. I'm not sure yet what the Cinnamon horse will end up being but I'll use those tires on something we don't need in winter. I did get the new pulleys on the 1267 today. It's better... 3rd gear works so it'll push snow now. Still not quite right though. The belt doesn't release from the engine pulley quite enough to shift correctly. I'm making progress though.... Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Heat the parts to over 125*F, run to the shed and shoot it, then clear the fumes quickly and fire up the Mr. Heater to cure it. The process works well enough, but a pain in the butt at best. ebinmaine 68,156 #249 Posted December 31, 2018 Today my wonderful girl and I spent pretty much all day working in the downstairs workshop on both the 867 and this cinnamon horse. For whatever reason she's had even more drive today than (her) normal (which is crazy high compared to the rest of us) and just wouldn't stop moving. She even spent some time reorganizing and picking up the shop a bit and the workbench so that we could make space to put the engine up and clean it off. Preparing it for paint. Here is where the cinnamon horse is for today.... The front wheels are the ones that will probably live on this permanently once they are repainted and spaced out correctly. The rear wheels and tires are just temporary ones to hold it up off the ground and make it a rolling chassis so we can move it around easier. 3 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
