richmondred01 2,238 #1 Posted January 25, 2018 (edited) I’ve read some old post on how to safely remove the electric pto however, I still don’t really understand the concept of using longer bolt to remove the assembly. This is my first wheel horse electric pto. Can someone explain? thanks Edited January 25, 2018 by richmondred01
Howie 892 #2 Posted January 25, 2018 It screws into the clutch and uses the end of the crankshaft to pull it off.
richmondred01 2,238 #3 Posted January 25, 2018 (edited) What size and thread of bolt.? I don’t recall any threads on the inside of the clutch field. the only treads I saw were the fine threads going into the crank shaft. daveoman1966 3,752 #4 Posted January 25, 2018 There are threads inside the Elect PTO field. Here are two pics. The long bolt (6" or so) threads into these and presses against the end of the engind crankshaft, forcing the PTO to come of off the shaft. DO NOT USE A PULLER OF ANY SORT. paxz71usa 173 #6 Posted January 25, 2018 (edited) It's Magic and Fairy Dust Richmond. When I first bought my tractor I couldn't figure it out at all. Did a search on google which lead me to this forum and PUFF the clutch was off. Since then got a used coil for the clutch, joined the forum and became a Supporter. As I said Magic and Fairy Dust will do it every time and a little advise from the experts! Gary Edited January 25, 2018 by paxz71usa
ztnoo 2,298 #7 Posted January 25, 2018 I had difficulties removing an electric PTO from a K341 with 1 1/8" crankshaft. So, I inquired here at RS, and thank to lots of help, particularly from pfrederi, I was able to figure out what was going on with the part, and eventually succeeded in removing the clutch. I had a quirky sort of issue, and unless you have owned a WH from new, you might encounter almost anything in doing a repair.......i.e. somebody had no idea what they were doing and half-assed something, and now you are the one left with the result. If you haven't reviewed my thread on my clutch removal adventure, it might benefit you to review it. Let us know how things go and what you discover on your machine.
