 I was wondering why the rear lights wouldn't work on the C-125. I suppose it would have helped if I'd wired them up after the rebuild.  

 Did that this morning.

Lights do work better with electricity!!  

 

Also Circuits also work better when you remember to install the fuse into the fuse holder!  Yup spent an extra hr. on that one!

  Late afternoon I put the 36" deck I'd recently acquired  on the 125 and mowed the green. Pleased with the deck but not so with the 125. Tappet cover decided to leak.

 

Better get crackin on the green Norm! those horses are gonna disappear in the high grass!

Hey guys, been gone for a while, busy with work and stuff.

 

I got the tiller mounted on the horse the other day, tilled the garden, and then today I re-tilled and planted my first crops.

 

Carrots, Onions, Turnips, Radishes, Spinach, Lettuce... I have some tomato starters inside under lamps and I'm doing seed potatoes tomorrow.

 

Hoping to get some Farmer's Market action going on this year!

 Decided to do some oil changes today.

 

  C-81 got it's engine oil and trans' changed. Trans' was rather milky, though it has been in there since I got it some 6-7 years ago.

 

  C-125's engine oil was ok. Couple of hours running since the rebuild and still clean. The trans' again milky and not much came out. No leaks so I assume I hadn't put enough in after the rebuild.

 

  One thing I wish I had done on the rebuild, was to fit another drain plug in the casing. The factory one is a pain. I put the rh rear on some boards and jacked the front up. Still couldn't get it all out. Bad design.

 

  I also changed the engine oil on the Sears/Roper. Tomorrow I'll do the trans' on that along with engine and trans' oil on the Black Horse. The grease gun will get well used as well on all four.

 

  I did find the left rears on both the C-81 and C-125 had little, read no, air in. C-125 has a split valve. C-81 maybe not sealing on the rim properly. Something for next week maybe. 

 

  BTW. No sign of water ingress in either trans'.

I've been threatening to get rid of the snow blower that I haven't used for three years.  

   Well, today I took the tall chute and the steel chains off the 520H and put the rubber chains on. Tomorrow  a 48" plow will go on.

The 520 with the heated cab and foot control will be my new snow mover next winter.  I'm thinking, if we do get a monster storm that the plow can't handle, I'll let my neighbor take over the duty with his Kubota and FEL      The tall chute will be listed in the classifieds soon if anyone is interested.

A few days ago the pto stopped engaging so I was thinkin the clutch went out. Today i got to lookin at it and realized that the snap ring had expanded and come loose so I put a new snap ring on it and it worked like a charm

Of course you realize that removal and/or sale of snow equipment greatly increases the chances of getting a monster storm.

 

 

But..... As to the neighbors... We sort of do the same thing here. When (not IF) the snow banks/piles get too high he stops by with the green farm tractor and does a push back for us.

Two seasons ago. We had a little more snow than normal. Trina and I went out snowshoeing and on the way back into the house we saw a black thing in the snow.

 

We realized later that day that it was the top of the gas grill which is right around 5 feet tall.....

By the way. You want snowshoeing? jump in the car. Couple of good places to stay right here local. We'll take you on a nice woods walk.

I got the axle bracket and plow frame on.    I was determined to keep the plow angle lever inside the warm cab.  I had to get a little creative to clear all the stuff on the right side of the 520.

I cut a slot in my heat collector to bring the lever up through,  then had to put a few bends in the lever to clear the foot pedal, the cab support, the PTO lever and my right leg.

This is what I ended up with.

Broached a new keyway in a hub today...My first.  Went really well.  Have 4-5 to work on.  Will be looking for others at the big show.  Add this to the Ed Kennel's brass woodruff key axle repair and I should have a life time supply of axles and hubs....

Decided that since temps hit 50 and even though there is still over a foot of snow in some places I would take a stand against winter and Murphy and wash the winter salt off my snow blowing machine. Figured as long as I was at it, wash the mower. Before and after...not totally obvious in pics but it did make a difference.

Aerated my yard,  my mother n laws yard, and a friends yard.  Also applied 8 bags of malurganite. Great weather and enjoyed the time. 

Hopefully will be turning the garden over again,  next weekend.

Been working on the free 48" deck scraped and brushed the rust, knock out a few dents and put a coat of Agriguard on it.  We will see how well it holds up. It's some tough stuff. I had the gallon open twice the third time I had to pry the lid up and roll it off like a sarden can. I bought three quart cans taped up the tops and filled the cans. Put the rest in a plastic quart can, just pant the top rim before putting on the plastic top. I have painted three decks and still have about half pint left in the plastic can.
