johnnymag3 2,520 #1809 Posted January 21, 2019 Snow was a bust here in Dutchess County, N.Y. Had 7-8 inches, but were told 12-18... Oh well, still had fun in the white stuff, and made a few pennies to boot !!!
Tuneup 1,433 #1810 Posted January 26, 2019 No snow down here in Atlanta town so I removed the 42RD and rebuild the arbors - 2 (ends) yesterday. The first was original so a royal pain. The second much cleaner - base not beaten - so went together in 20 minutes. Leaving the blades on makes it that much faster. The RD is the only thing I didn't fully restore (just belt and pulleys) so am looking forward to that nice humming sound I long to hear from a well-maintained deck. One arbor to go! Here’s a before and after picture in my garage with the garage lights off completely. The before shot is actually darker than it shows because my camera tried to compensate for how dark the room actually was. The tractor still doesn’t light up the world but it’s much better than it was before. The wall is about 30’ away from the tractor. Just saw this post and those LEDs are pretty amazing! Can I ask which ones you used and where you got them?
Lee1977 6,659 #1812 Posted January 26, 2019 (edited) I didn't do this all today, but I did take it off paint it and reinstall it. Bracing the transmission mount. I had already done this to my 312-8. This the C-120/180. The black reinforcing is 1/4" x 1 1/2" that I ground to fit in between the ridges on the transmission plate. I also used new bolts that were 1/4" longer. My neighbor did the welding as I can't see anything after the flash. I put these new seat on my tractor a while back, they sat up to straight. I had already put a 1/2" spacer under the hinges on the 312-8, so I made some for my C-120/180. Edited January 26, 2019 by Lee1977 6

cschannuth 3,816 #1814 Posted January 27, 2019 The transmission tunnel angle broke where the front of the seat attaches. I was going to weld some angle from a bed frame but it was too small and I didn’t trust my welding so I bolted some 2x2x1/8 angle to the tunnel. It worked pretty well and it was very simple. I just had to notch the left side to miss the parking brake mechanism. 3
cleat 5,970 #1815 Posted January 27, 2019 I did the exact same thing on my latest 520. I think it will actually be stronger than original. Cleat

I didn't do the same, I only used 1/8" flat and used the 4 -1/4" shifter cover bolts to hold it in place. It's been that way about 3 years. Jim anderson 77 #1819 Posted January 27, 2019 Flushed the gear oil today. I’m not sure how old the gunk in there was since the tractor is new to me. When I checked it I knew it was best to start with something fresh. Engine oil next on the list. The pic with the milk jug has a couple different liquids in it. On the left is my reward for the work. Unfortunately the milk jug isn’t the old gear oil, it is actually the diesel wash. Think I could have washed it twice, but I didn’t have enough diesel. The other pic is the gearbox gunk.

I probably would have done the same but I had the angle on hand and I'm pretty heavy so I wanted to make sure I never had to fix it again, LOL.
Lane Ranger 10,968 #1822 Posted January 28, 2019 (edited) Plowed the driveway and sidewalks this am with the 1964 Wheel Horse 854. Not much snow on the ground but I wanted to get it cleared off before the next round and the deep dive temperatures that are headed our way for the next three days! As ususal, the 854 did a nice job and I was back in the house after 15 minutes of seat time! The 1883 DePauw University McKim Observatory is my backdrop in the 5th photo. The Observatory is in the front of the left side of my yard between the Hawthorne trees. Racinbob 11,080 #1823 Posted January 28, 2019 Cleared about 8" today. Lake effect coming. Temps aren't bad today, about 30 but all time record cold is predicted. High at -12 and wind chill in the negative 50's. I think I'll stay inside. 1

Redman2018 6 #1825 Posted January 28, 2019 Good afternoon, new guy on this site. Hey just wanted to thank people who posted charging system issues on 520 H. I was removing snow this morning and voltmeter was reading 18 volts, well needless to say good by headlights, and read where voltage regulator may have to be grounded to get it to function properly, well put a ground wire from engine ti battery , hi five , we are back at 13.5 volts, thanks to all the sly, smart, people who know wheelhorse, I have owned since 1984. Tractors in Poseidon are 4-16 8 and 520 H , both were really given up on, both seem to perform well. Thanks to everyone, Reman 2019. 1
