I mount one side of the tire on the rim. Get the tube in with the valve in the hole. Then proceed from there. 8ntruck 7,016 #16986 Posted September 13, 2022 I pulled the front wheels off of Clyde the C-195 today to remove the nasty ozone checked, dried out original 1982 tires. Don't have either tire off of the rim yet - they are putting up a fight. No problem breaking the tire off of the rim on the valve stem side. I just put a length of 2x6 on the sidewall and drove my truck onto it - popped the bead right off of the rim. The other side, however, was a different story. I ended up with a screw jack pushing the tire down while braced under the trailer hitch on the truck. I also employed a large breaker bar and an 8 pound hammer adjacent to the foot of the screw jack. Had to apply that around the tire 4 or 5 places before I got the bead broken loose from the rim. By that time, I was wiped out and decided to leave the actual demounting of the tire for tomorrow . 4 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Heatingman 971 #16988 Posted September 14, 2022 (edited) I mounted the front tires on the rims, knowing full well there was gonna be some scratches to the fresh paint, I mounted in a way that all the scratches would be to the inside, then touched up those scratches with a brush. Also put some color on a few parts today, and yesterday. Black went on the pulleys yesterday, red today. Tomorrow I plan for a round of grey. Hope to start reassembly this weekend. Then once the bulk of the rolling chassis is back together, Ive gotta prep and paint the seat pan, and fenders. Also want to clean the carb and open up the motor to make sure nothing is too out of whack with it, then paint that, mount and tractor complete. So maybe another month and a bit. I have used it or something like it several times to avoid having to reposition the hub a third time to complete the cut. squonk 41,145 #16998 Posted September 15, 2022 (edited) Picked up this 8 popper today. Complete with starter,carb and PTO. Off of a no name 8 4 spd. in a scrapyard. Tractor was all there including the deck and it wasn't in horrible shape. Turns over and has compression. I'll get it on the engine stand in the next couple days and see if she's a runner.
