What have you done to your Wheel Horse today?

So this isn't perfect by no means, but I couldn't look at the gaping hole in the grille any longer. Maybe someday I will end up with the correct  parts to fix it rite.

A scrap piece of aluminum,  an old emblem from a trash 312-8 hood a bit of paint and no more hole.

@kpinnc hope you get to try the lubriplate  chain and cable spray , pry mine up at a 45 deg angle in the sun , and it really gets things hot and dry ,  at least a couple of hours , it stains the metal black , I  do the same thing every time I touch it up . never had any wear off . also do the spindles ,  sharpen the blades with a small fine file , oil spray to retain edge . that procedure along with lucas xtra heavy duty polyurea chassis grease in the spindle bearings and the same pto drive bearings , makes for some solid quiet operation. since going over to this set up , my decks have been bombproof , no rot very little build up ,and no whining noisy bearings . this is what I do , was tired of repetitive bearing failure , and underside deck issues . pictures above on rustproofing deck maintenance, is on my decks . detail question ? just ask , pete

I changed my transmission fluid. The fluid that came out was dirty and old but not contaminated in anyway. With the old fluid looking as it did and I could only get the tractor up so high I was confident the transmission did not need flushing and that I would not be able to get all the kerosine after the flush. From there I just added in the new fluid. I checked the level which was full after 2qts. of 80-90 gear oil. I drove the tractor around through all gears and high and low ranged and checked it again. It was still full and clean. I installed the new transmission shifter boot and then the plow. While having the shift guide off I had a chance to monitor my parking brake “repair”. It was already starting to bend back. I straightened out the switch arm again and reinforced it with a wrapping of electrical tape. I was unable to install the wheel weights. The bolts I have are only eight inches long and come to the mounting hole in the wheel on the inside. I would need another inch. The local hardware store had 10 inch bolts but not enough threading to cut down. After looking elsewhere I figure I’d have to go buy the 10 inch bolts and extend the threading and cut them down. I also got a replacement gas cap with gauge. The original one had became unreadable and cracked with age.  I also bolted on the plow bracket and attached the plow. A light horse day. After all the work I pushed some brush back in the rabbit patch with the blade.

Fixed a flooding carb, replaced a bad drive idler pulley and test drove.

We had a metal roof installed back in April and May. 

Still a bit of trim to be finished up but it was time to get the waste pile moved into he trailer so it can go to the transfer station this weekend. 

Gotta get cleaned up 'round here what with us having a Meet n Greet coming up!!

 

So we used the Cinnamon Horse C160 and Trina's 867 Pigpen tractor to pull a couple trailers over by the pile. We sorted out the material by type and loaded up.

I would like to do something with my horse today.

 

I'm wondering what everyone uses to soften a dried out vinyl seat. Mine is in decent shape but if I keep using it I know it's going to crack. I would really like to safe this one

Boy it's been a couple decades or more since I've processed that thought.

 

I'm not sure what's available on the market nowadays for final conditioners... I will say this.

CLEANLINESS IS KEY and in fact may even solve a lot of the problem.

Don't know if there is anything that will soften harden aged plastic. Mineral oil is listed as the most widely used product by the internet. Most products only claim to protect against UV damage.

My guess is mineral oil the main ingredient in all of them.

I've just used car interior and seat type conditioners/protectors for vinyl and keep it clean as ebinmaine said.  I spray it down and wipe it off a few times a year at least.  I think it's one of those it will crack at some point as it won't last forever.  But pushing it off longer always sounds nice...especially with an original WH seat.

That was the first thing I did when I bolted it on. I dont know what it is about this tractor but I find myself joy riding on it ALOT
