What's the carburetor that you need to work on? I've done a couple of those and they're fairly straightforward. Least or most fun thing depending on how you look at it is probably getting the tiny little screws out of the throttle shaft. The way I see it, retorque them. If they move, great. If not, great. You lost nothing but a few minutes of time. I can't comment on the sanding/planing for a good running engine as all the ones I've had apart did have slight gasket leaks. None of ours were out of plane by much but all got at least a touch up on the sandpaper taped to glass we use. Tractorhead 9,064 #7870 Posted November 23, 2020 Yes that maybe sounds a little to a waste of Time by retighten after a Seattime, but that still depends on the type of Engine. Older Cast iron Engine Headscrews are just massive Bolts, newer Engines have mostly expansion screws they shall be replaced after each Cylindrehead Service because the stretched. That was an Advice i learned from the old Mercedes Engineer, who also tuned several newer Engines. He didn‘t retighten this Raceengines because of expansionscrews. He also teaches me the Seat time‘s is only to use on older Cast Iron Engines. On Expansion screws it is not needed, because they be a little overtighten to bring them to the max force for what they be built for.
