While I'm here, as for 'what have you done to your Wheel Horse today?' Not as much as i'd like to, that dang thing called responsibility getting in the way lately. Its overrated:lol:

I did, however, FINALLY get the little emulsion tube/rod freed up in the 655 carb so it idles and performs correctly. Cut the grass again yesterday. Still cant get over just how capable that puny little 6hp is. The more I run it, the more I love it. Dont think this one will be leaving the stables anytime soon.

Is it a Kohler? Heck no, but really starting to believe the only thing that truly sucks about a Tekky is that stupid carb design. We battled that issue back in the day when racing karts- very few engine issues, tons of carb issues.

Those Tecky 6’s are a force to be reckoned with, huh?

I too have not gotten anything WH done... but there’s a set of 27x10-12’s in my shop that are calling my name, along with a Ride Away Senior asking for a start up soon!

Went out to mow the lawn today. Front went fine, but on my first outer pass for the back yard I hit a root hidden under the leaves. Went fromm cruising in Hi 2 with blades to dead stop and wheels spinning.

Belt for the deck came out from under the shroud. It popped the screws in the front to lift the shroud to escape.

PTOalso got all sorts of screwed up. Snapped one of the bolt heads off the clutch retainer. It rattled around a little in there before I could turn the engine off.

20201031_120025.jpg.430ba7b2bfb0e7c9f6b8ca09732dcf24.jpg

The clutch also got pushed back into the belt guard. The retainers got a little bent.

20201031_120846.jpg.7e37db6cfa49409583818dd9d08adf33.jpg

Fortunately, I was able to straighten out the retainer and get a new bolt in the threads. Assembly was fairly straightforward. I think something is still shifted because I had to adjust my PTO arm to apply more pressure as the clutch started slipping.

I am happy to say finishing the mow was uneventful.

Puzzled me as to just why sometimes this 12 horsepower tractor ran and sometimes it did not. some indication of a weepy head gasket, so off she came. My new normal is gonna be to pull the head on each tractor that becomes part of the herd.Evaluate the cylinder and the valves , lap and adjust.

I also bought some extreme heat JB weld to fill in the pits on this c-145 cylinder head cover

They are from different tractors, but you get the idea. The JB is designed for continuous heat of 1500+ degrees. so we will see. I probably will sand the cap down somewhat and soda blast the pits in some manner before using the JB . Wouldn't you think that this tractor sat around or had some goop sprayed inside the spark plug hole to loosen all this stuff from the cylinder cap? It looked exactly like this when i removed it

JHOOK, typically steering wheel removal is tough, but if you do that , then you can slide the bearing over the shaft , cleaned and lubricated , for a possible mounting spot , if its a matter of beefing up a mounting spot , you measure  your spot and make it stronger , for  a 2 bolt hold down . this bearing is much stronger than the original set up , yet serves the same function. as you recover your dash area , the mounting modification will come into view , with new steel.  pete

Took the running boards off the Raider so that tomorrow I can take it to the man that does my welding, so he can fix the cracks in the hood stand.

Grind the valves and cut the valve seats, don't lap.  That exhaust valve appears to be running hot on one side.  Not sure what pits you are trying to fix.  My guess is that someone reused the head gasket.  The head needs to be lapped flat and the spark plug threads may need repair.

Got some seat time running the Horse in high gear at 1/2 throttle towing the lawn sweep around.

The leafs are dry and they burned well.  Got our house, the lake house cleaned up as well as helping two of the neighbors.

Lots of oak leafs still up in the trees.  Will be at least one more clean up session to come.

@Jhook Make sure to deburr the angle iron edges with a file.  Any sharp bits can shred a belt in seconds!  Otherwise, it looks great!  Make sure that unless you attach the guard to the angle iron via bolts, that you can remove the guard with the belt in place.  It might even work to flip the angle to attach Bose the top of the belt and below the bottom... if that makes sense.

After supper i went shortly into Shed back, to put the missing Sticker onto Steering Wheel.

yap, that looks much better..

because i have 2 of them, i decide there was a missing a Branding on the Plow, for what it was made for...

So i added the second onto the Center of the Blade and precutted a Sign, that will be painted, if the Red was completely cured.

It finally will show‘s   - Made for (Wheelhorselogo)

but simply the Logo itself is also a Great Addon.

Yes thank you i was planning to hit the sharp edges with a flap disk. And i plan to bolt the sheet metal cover thru the top and bottom angle iron. Im just going to tap some threads into it.
