Burnerman 758 #6903 Posted October 7, 2020 I made up a chute crank for the 44” snowblower and finally ordered a different carb for the Onan. Every time I shut it off fuel gets pushed out of this jet. I’ve rebuilt the carb and installed and set a new float. It loads up a cylinder and starts hard on one cylinder. Once it clears out it runs great. I’m hoping an older style carb helps. 4

I want to tell you, this site is full of great people. He drove 4 hours to get a super nice 12 HP Kohler......and to put the icing one the cake, we talked like we knew each other for 60 years !!!! Hes on his way home now, and was instructed my myself to let me know when he gets home safe......I feel like my DAD Thanks for the engine @johnnymag3 this is just what I needed to bring that Raider 12 back to life. A much better solution than what I was contemplating by parting it out. Pictures to come as work begins. 3 5

rjg854 11,371 #6906 Posted October 7, 2020 The engine swap should be pretty much plug and play, but then I need to go through the rest of the tractor change fluids, check wiring, and steering and wheels, etc.

8ntruck 7,008 #6908 Posted October 7, 2020 I bent up a quick and dirty mulching plate for my 42" SD deck this weekend. Sun finally came out and dried the leaves up so I could try it out. It does not produce total containment of the leaves, but what do get trapped in the deck do get chopped up. The deck tends to blow the leaves ahead and to the right, so a clockwise pattern starting at the outside edges of the lawn seems to work the best. The plate is attached with two bolts through existing holes in the deck. The holes along the bottom edge were spot welds in this material's previous application. Requisite picture: I've been meaning to post a picture of the model and serial number plate for the serial number list that someone is keeping here on the forum: 2

8ntruck 7,008 #6915 Posted October 8, 2020 (edited) Thanks for the help EB. What follows are more detailed intrrucktions. Ever since I retired, my access to a CAD system has been limited. When I finished the plate, I moved the 3d model I had made into the trash. This morning, the trash got emptied. Unfortunately, the 3d model has been permenamtly deleted by a Loadstar trash app. mounted on a tandem axle Mack operating system. You can re-create the 3d model starting with a rectangle of cardboard (mine was corrigated) 17" wide by 5 1/4" tall, with a 3 1/2" wide by 1" tall notch cut out of the lower right hand corner. Bend the left hand side of the rectangle up at an angle of about 30 degrees from vertical starting on the lower left corner going up an to the right. This bend angle will be about 40 degrees. Bend the right hand side of the rectangle down at an angle of about 15 degrees from vertical going up and to the left starting at the corner of the notch. This bend angle will be close to 90 degrees. Now try the fit of your 3d model to your deck. Adjust as necessary. The notched end of the plate attaches to the front of the deck. The notch is clearance for the reinforcing rod across the bottom of the deck outlet. When satisifyied with the fit, project the unfolded 3d model on to a suitable piece of sheet metal. Cut, fold, beat to fit, drill to match, then you are done! Good luck, and have fun. Edited October 8, 2020 by 8ntruck 2 1
echris 1,425 #6916 Posted October 8, 2020 There's the detailed engineering drawing I'm looking for! Thanks, funny you posted this a few days after I mowed by first batch of leaves and decided I really need to make a mulching plate.

Ed Kennell 38,187 #6920 Posted October 8, 2020 Got the 42"SD ready for winter storage. Scraped and wire brushed and oiled top and bottom. Sharpened, polished, and balanced blades. Coated with oil. Idler sounded dry, so worked in some MM oil. Sounds much better. The belt was cracked. I searched my belt dept.( A 55 gallon barrel full), and found a new WH belt. 7 5
steelman 251 #6921 Posted October 8, 2020 Decided to clean up rear fenders off a 414 that is peeling and rusting. If there’s an easier way than wire brushing, I’ll like to know.

What Trina and I do is use a wire brush but at a MUCH higher speed. I have an auto body grinder that spins 10,000 or 11,000 RPM and I buy brushes special for that. Lower angle. Better control. Higher rpm. Better quality brushes. Just a whole different animal than trying to put one in a drill. Proper PPE is an absolute must..
