@ebinmaine  The thought has crossed my mind about painting the muffler. If you look at the 312-8 in my first restoration I painted that one and it turned brown rather quickly, being 20 years ago I can't remember what product I used. The headers on the Chevelle SS always got VHT high temp paint with great results, What would you recommend. Sorry to get off topic guys, Eric made me do it.

I would either use THAT or a Rust-Oleum high heat BBQ/stove paint.

That's what Trina used on the little wood stove she restored for the upstairs.

Also what she used on the exhaust on Cinnamon Horse. That was a "pre-loved" muffler I got from @squonk and the piping is black iron. All still looks good.

Most important thing is to get as much rust off as possible of course.

I'll ask her and get back to you. I don't think any primer is needed.

Normally no primer is needed.

you can prepare it firstly with etank or to make it a bit more longlife brown it,

before paint it in a second Step

use VHT Paint.

The browning and paint combination will last longest.

No primer.

Remove rust.

Clean with acetone.

Spray it.

I'd recommend you follow the instructions for curing the paint. (basically you bake it)

I‘d know how you call this

heat it up to about 250-500 deg C with a torch and put it hot in an oil bath or spill it immediately with oil.

so the Surface will turn into black like Gun Parts.

the more the heat the better it lasts.

I do this 2 or 3 Times after derusting with a steelbrush.

Depending

After that paint it

Oh, but be aware,

don‘t do this on a hot summerday next to a Barbecue, because it stinks.

😂

Except you can fast run.. 😎

smells like a Oiling Engine.

Built my gas tank. And batt box. Well. I helped. My welder buddy did the welding and he cut the logo. I plasma, drew it out and tacked.  Idk about logo, but tank and box going on pulling horse.

Yes I know the fuel cap is dog ugly. But it'll work. Also the stainless AC duct he had was a little larger that imagined at 7". Well see what it looks like on the tractor

Did an unexpected electric fuel pump conversion yesterday. I had acquired most of the parts already and was planning on a fall upgrade, but a fuel pump failure mid mow changed that lol. I didn’t have all the wire terminals I wanted to properly hook up the relay, so I just wired a switch to the hot on the solenoid....

interestingly, there are 2 holes in the frame that perfectly fit the pump. I wonder what the holes are for?

Today I am working in the Shop, pulling a wheel for a member here, he is in need of a nice steering wheel....

Then I am putting the trailer on the Z71 to go get a B100....all original....... tomorrow.

The tractor is in its fine color, with its original deck, a 42" side discharge. The tractor is my garage find after being nosey about other items in his yard... When you see a skeleton riding a snowmobile in a mound of dirt in the front yard....., you want to inquire !!!

The tractor is tucked in a big garage, and has not ran in 15 years im told... Looks to be accurate. No rust rot on deck, super solid B tractor.  I pulled the Rear stick, clean gear oil....unbolted the engine stick, crystal clear engine oil....Worth a shot @ 350.00 for tractor and deck I guess....Unmolested original B 100

Going to change my Hydro oil on both 418 A tractors today also....will post B100 pictures when I get her home...Have a safe day Horse fans !!!!

One thing I have found out about original paint. It does not like acid rain no matter how much wax and salad dressing is on it.
