ebinmaine 67,455 #5376 Posted June 21, 2020 @Boat guy Looks like you've got a 1974 or 5 B80. Great tractors!! My first, Patriot horse, is a 74. The Kohler 8 is a great little engine! Have to admit these horses look ok in yellow. Have you tested the output of the stator off the engine? Should be 30 - 35 volts AC at full throttle. Also try putting the wires at the ammeter to the same terminal on the back of the meter. That bypasses the ammeter. Check for charge then. Keep us posted and good luck! 1

This drawing should be helpful with the charging issue. The two outer wires on the Regulator/rectifier should have 35 volts AC +/- with the engine running and the center terminal needs to have battery voltage on it with the ignition key on. 3

Will keep you posted, and yet does look kind of good in yellow instead of red. P.O said he painted it the same color as state and government owned wheel horses? Don't know about that ... Stormin 9,981 #5381 Posted June 21, 2020 Solenoid packed up on the C-125 yesterday, just after I'd put the deck on ready to mow. Nice sunny and warm afternoon as well. This morning fitted a spare solenoid that came with some spares for the Sears/Roper. Not the same, but works. Now the weather can't make it's mind up. One minute sunshine. The next rain. No seat time today. 1 1

squonk 41,079 #5383 Posted June 21, 2020 I have a couple of engineer friends. 1 is very old. Everything in his basement you could imagine. Machine shop, piano and organ, Wurlitzer juke box, a military surplus gen set that can light the neighborhood ect. Last I knew he was building computers from scratch . He had an 85" monitor hooked up so his grandkids can play games. 2nd one lives next door. He's never satisfied with nothing. He over builds stuff so bad that if it takes a week to build it, it takes a month to remove it Back to Horses. Since I defeated Joseph Lucas on his home turf with the electrical system on the 1075, I rigged up a temporary seat and replaced the belt. Done for today. wore my leg out yesterday. Got more clean up and cosmetics to go. 6 1

Got it and trailer for 550.00. Seemed fair.. It did not run when I purchased it, I was told everything was fined as usual. Lol. Being just shy of 60 I knew I was in for a little bit, so what did I do to my wheel horse today?. Clean the carburetor, resealed the fuel tank petcock on the bottom that was leaking like a sieve, And clean all the grunge out of it, Replace completely melted voltage regulator plug with quality marine terminals, ( Still not charging ) Change the oil, cleaned up the points so I can start it as new ones and plug have been ordered, Adjust carburetor and governor, stared at it alot... lol At 1st I thought I made a mistake Getting it for the property but after correcting all the backwards things on it from p.o. it ran like a champ. Got lots more to do as I know now it will be exactly what I need. Got lots of stuff to take apart clean adjust and re install. Gotta get to the charging situation and get that fixed. But I think it's worth it.. seems like a good old horse. Looks like a good one, though, something just seems a little off about it. Can't quite put my finger on it......

I saw an ad for a Gravely L series with a sidewalk brush that was origionaly purchased by the USPS. It was a similar yellow color.
squonk 41,079 #5396 Posted June 21, 2020 Lots of tractor companies painted their "industrial" tractors yellow like most DOT's had their road equipment.I think it looks great. There was a yellow 3 wheeled horse at the big show a couple years back that was awesome.
ebinmaine 67,455 #5397 Posted June 21, 2020 I spent several hours today experimenting with a new tool. I bought a needle scaler a few weeks ago. I've been wanting for a year or more to repaint the rear wheels that have been on Patriot, the 1267/87 mongrel, and now live on Cinnamon Horse. I had started to simply swap wheel spacers on Cinnamon and then everything went haywire like I always do. I got to thinking... While the wheels are off I'd try the needle scaler and have the paint department throw some nice new Navajo White on. Well I removed a little paint. Then discovered it crappy paint and not worthy of a Wheelhorse. So I stripped both wheels in and out using a combination of the needle scaler and the body grinder with a wire brush. Then Trina set to painting things up a bit. I'm swapping from 3" to 2" so I can use the 3s for Colossus. Here's both sides before: The right side is particularly nasty at the inside bottom. Custom made shaded work station 4 3
