I hooked them on a few things in the yard while I was rolling, nothing serious, just a couple of nicks. Dan, I’m sure you can make short work of shortening those axle stubs.... I never had a problem with them hooking anything but then again I never used it. Which is why you have it. Lol 1 1
echris 1,425 #5053 Posted June 6, 2020 Because I now have the fever, I took the day off and spent it giving my new 310-8 a thorough servicing. I found out last night (Thanks WheelHorseForum!) she's a 1989. Removed mower deck, side panels, shifter panel and battery so I could see what's going on inside. Looks good overall! Greased all fittings - looks like it hadn't been done in a long while. Applied lithium grease to all linkages, steering column, everything. Lubed throttle and choke cables. Adjusted throttle cable - looks like it slipped on the engine clamp and was not reaching full throttle Reconnected clutch safety switch, solder/shrink tubing. Previous owner cut the wires twisted them together, kinda, and duct taped them. Removed very noisy starter and added light machine oil to the shaft. She's as quiet as a....well...a Kohler starter now. Had to remove dipstick to remove starter. Dumb, Kohler. Adjusted brake. Was very loose. Might need to get a new band soon. Brake drum has a lot of oil on the hub. Bad seal? Adjusted PTO (like 5 times lol) and PTO brake. .012... I ended up setting it at .015. Once I tightened the bolts at .012, it closed up more making the brake drag a bit. Replaced missing bolt from lower PTO bracket. The entire bracket was loose. Yikes! Replaced the battery. Was at 11.5 volts after overnight 2A charge. Stole it from my old tractor. Removed, tested and reinstalled keyswitch. Previous owner replaced it with generic and it wasn't aligned properly. Cleaned, stripped and repainted battery hold down. (It's the little things that make us happy) Cleaned, lubed and inspected mule drive. Looks good! Did a quick service on the deck. Added about 10 pumps of grease to each spindle and none came out. Was not happy about that! Need to replace deck belt, so once I get that, I will do a full service tear down on the deck. I also found a hole in the deck, pretty big, size of a quarter near the height adjuster. Half-assed repair was done previously. Can't believe I missed that earlier, but not too big of a deal to repair properly. The rest of it looks solid. All the baffles underneath are solid. Didn't have SAE 30 or 90, so I still need to change the oil. Hopefully tomorrow I can get out and buy some. I'm pretty sure there's more that I've forgotten. And then I mowed my side yard, while my elderly neighbor and best friend sat in my driveway drinking a beer and watching me. He's happy for me that my years-long quest has finally come to fruition. LMAO! And then my nephew showed up with 2 friends in a GIANT diesel flatbed to pick up my tiny Husqvarna YTH-180 tractor. You could easily put an F-350 dually on this thing. Like using a freight train to move a single grain of rice. I should've gotten a pic. Hilarious. A good day! Is it normal that my Wheel Horse is in the garage and my car in the driveway? I thought so. 3

Years back I bought a used pallet jack from a fellow we frequently shipped produce to. He sent it back inside a 48' tractor trailer that was deadheading back to Florida. Driver showed up and told the packinghouse foreman he had a full load of equipment for me . I hadn't told him this was coming so he called me out to the packing house to inspect the delivery, doors swung open and the foreman about fell out laughing over the "full load". 3

chip61 658 #5058 Posted June 6, 2020 (edited) Not a restoration by any means, I cleaned up and painted the hood, seat pan and foot rests on my C141. It's a worker-had lots of issues when I bought it. I just wanted it to look a little better. Terry's decals look great-probably the best part of the tractor. How it looked when I got it After a little touch-up Edited June 8, 2020 by chip61 pics
D_Mac 8,610 #5059 Posted June 6, 2020 Well continued receiving parts in the mail today. Im telling you its like Christmas. Today I got two packages. One from my buddies at K and B Horse Parts. This time they sent me brand new front lens for the C-161 and a new air filter assembly. The lens looks teriffic, old one was obviously broken. The air cleaner is a little different then the one I am removing. The plate is the same that screws to the carb but the dish is not as deep. Does anyone know what size filter I am going to need with the new dish on it? Part # perhaps ? Here is a photo of the plate I took off. Hanging on by a thread. Do you think thats cause by the " shaker " mounts? The second package was the rear lens. That was the good news. Bad news is that the lights are not working again. Thought I had it figured out but it keeps blowing fuses. Looks like I have something to do tomorrow. Maybe its the switch... I dunno but the little glass fuses are starting to add up !! I also picked up a Rubbermaid Riding Mower Shed. I got it for my mother some years ago served its purpose well. She wanted it gone so I brought it to my house....... you know what that means dont ya .......??? 5

Save the tips and spray nozzles from empty cans, keep them soaking in Paint thinner....seal them in a nice container. When the rattle can acts up next time, pull the spray nozzle and add a new clean one !!!! 1

johnnymag3 2,520 #5068 Posted June 6, 2020 Spent the morning in the Stable, Nothing to do on the Horses, waiting for a carburetor kit to arrive for the WALBRO..... SO...…. I started to dig in my Wheel Horse boxes I bought. I came across an electric lift that works perfect, in great paint and condition !!! I have not seen one of these in a long time. I also came across ALOT of gas tanks, steering wheels , new front spindles...and a TON of other goodies. I will be posting Horse stuff on a table or 5 very soon. That is what I did for my Horses today. !!! Im sure I will be doing something else since there is a lot of day left. I just hate running them on super hot … humid days.

echris 1,425 #5075 Posted June 7, 2020 This morning, I got engine and trans oil for my new '89 310-8. When I drained the trans, I kinda got sad. The fluid look way worse than the dipstick showed. Flush required. Thankfully, my neighbor and best friend has a diesel tractor, so I stole 2 quarts from him and flushed the trans. Up on blocks, 5 minutes per gear, high/low. Drained it and added an ancient quart of 80W I would never use on a good machine. I have no idea where it came from lol... Ran that up on blocks and drained it. Ugly, ugly fluid still coming out. Stole another 2 quarts of diesel from my neighbor (I'll pay him in beer later), run it ~20 minutes, drained it. Not too bad. All I had left for spare oil was the extra quart of 5W-20 for the overdue oil change on my car. Sorry Honda, Wheel Horse wins. Ran that through, drained it, nose high in the sky, clean oil comes out. Wheee! Let her drain for a good long while, dropped the nose and changed the engine oil. Drove her around for a good spell, and all fluids looked sparkly clean on the dipsticks. Here are the first pics from my yard. I haven't cleaned anything yet, just mechanical/electrical work. Look pretty good for $300. https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipMzpoFxKSMOgcipFQcsQ_S98ns6yh7eXoratn1ki5UsGwZ9E01-ELnA8RaZy8HdpQ?key=QkQzNG5RRWJCUjh0V1R3M2hpLVhmTzE2RG5kT293 4
