If you use some WD-40 and "0000 Steel Wool" you can bring back the color while preserving thaq patina. If you have any specific questions please start a new thread on here and you will get lots of help.

BPEisenhower 535 #4081 Posted February 29, 2020 Might have been a dreary day but.... another free find from estate clean out. Pulled out of a collapsed lean-to. Not dented but surface rust... Motor was covered with about 50 plastic Wal-Monopoly bags and turns over. Was told it was parked in 1985 and ran/operated good but too old for use. Never use those words in the same breath or sentence.... 1969 Charger 12. Does the phrase "Never look a gift Horse in the mouth" apply? Shameful how people overlook the good.... 4
pkerot 73 #4082 Posted February 29, 2020 BPE Yours looks a lot like mine except you have air in your tires :)

Wasn't off the beads...but might as soon as I go to drive for first time. No idea how I am keeping it either. Definitely a bath but unsure if it keeps it work clothes on, or steel wool and linseed or repaint. Either way, I'm happy running or not
SylvanLakeWH 25,535 #4084 Posted February 29, 2020 Took advantage of the sunshine today... Flipped the wear bar on the plow and yikes! None too soon... Wee bit close to the bolts... Replaced all 5 bolts with stainless. 3 of the 5 were rusted beyond use so vice grips and a torch were quick and effective... 1

Andy N. 2,142 #4088 Posted March 1, 2020 I leave tomorrow for a week of training and the wife saw next week's forecast with 4 scheduled days above 50 degrees so she asked me to unburry her Miata from winter storage so she could drive it those days. I took the Miata for drive around the block and the WH's for a drive around the yard. Beautiful day for both. 3

I'm going to take the bowl off of the carburetor and squirt diesel down the sparkplug hole and see if it will spin over and start. I'm happy to find this forum so I can learn about the wheel horse. Welcome! And the addiction begins... 🤣

ebinmaine 67,431 #4097 Posted March 1, 2020 2 hours ago, pkerot said: Why do you guys like these? I was put to Wheelhorse 3 or 4 years ago by a trusted small engine repair shop. One of the techs is a former Toro dealer employee. Trina and I needed a tractor that was physically heavier weight for towing loads of rocks for stone walls. We now have 4 running, 3 in project stage. Wheelhorse is reliable, easy to maintain and repair, bull strong. Lots of implements if you desire them. We've done frame off restorations on 2. Mechanical restorations on 3. Other brands are interesting to look at. None are as simple and practical. Ours are built to work hard and we need them to be just so.
The Tuul Crib 7,336 #4098 Posted March 1, 2020 Attached the 48 inch deck to my 414 today hit all the grease zerks and had to replace the drive belt for the deck as well. Ready for the mowing season. Still way too muddy around the property and more rain is on the way for next week. Up to 3 inches in two days. 4

It's an 8. Wheelhorse used 2 different hi/lo transmissions over the years. The 6 speed was used from 67 to 69 or 70. From then on they were very similar but not identical. The brake shaft location is different. They were marketed as 8 speeds from that point until production ceased.
