I went to add some MMO to the oil, but found the oil level to be over filled per the dip stick.  I drained about a cup and a half out to bring it to the full mark.  Put about an ounce of MMO in the crankcase.  This makes me wonder if the fuel pump is adding gas to the oil...

 

The plan tomorrow is to chase around the electrical system to get it closer to working as it should.  Will probably check the fuel pump, too.

 

Got the laptop back today.  I'll load pictures and start a new thread on this beast.

 

Anybody out there build a new wire harness for their Horse?  I'be found a source for wire, and maybe connectors - assuming Wheel Horse used Packard connectors.

 

Oh, for our records, here is the model and serial number for the new to me horse: Model  01-19KE01 - 24003,  serial 2091.

 

I love the super Cs, please post some pics as you work on it.

Deck triage day. Turns out the spindle bearings are fine, a little noisy but they spin freely and have no play so I'm leaving them alone. IDK if it's possible to over grease these spindles, but when I see a grease zerk and a weep hole I fill till it comes out.

 

The deck tensioner bar was pretty loose and beat up. The slots were a bit egged out and the bolts were worn but the idler was ok. Luckily I had a spare bar, bolts, and those plastic washers and it all went in without issue and is much tighter. So glad my tractors came with multiple boxes of spare parts! I can't wait to mow with it again and see if this smooths it out.

I might be mistaken - but I believe the washers are made of a fairly tough plastic ... could be nylon or some nylon in the material (?)

I never looked at their site before but Toro seems to have pretty incredible parts support for these old decks. At $1.13 apiece plus shipping I might need to buy a couple new bushings...

Was Staples all out of RED folders ???? Wheel Horse stickers on JD Yellow folder < sigh> well at least it wasnt a green folder. You know I am only teasing !! Nice of Terry to send out the decals.

The seat on the C 195 I got last weekend is really crusty.  I am mentally working through the repair or replace decision.

@Tuneup nice looking deck shell there, just an idea, if you are going to rebuild those spindles , use a hi temp , polyurea ,anti sling grease with a 560 deg , flash point , lucas  xtra , heavy duty , walmart  $ 5 , big tube. done that on all my decks , no noisy, whining bearings , no failures , also did the matching bearings in the pto mule drive. thinking if you are that deep in the deck , why not upgrade the repair and make it last ? just my own experience , do what ever you want to do . also rustproof my decks . pete

@balconio, two things on your slider issues , you can probably get a harder  more durable , nylon / Teflon slide make up in the hardware store pull out drawer section , also use a SUPER LUBE AEROSOL LUBRICANT  on those sliders , makes them slide without effort . pete

Nylon will work great we made the old double d slides out of nylon had to mill a slot out with them.

Did some "light" mowing at the new place with the C-160. Front half of the property wasn't too bad at roughly 14" tall, but most of the back half was at least even with the top of the hood. Didn't come out looking great, nor did I expect it to. It'll take a couple more trimmings before it starts to look right again. 

 

I'm thinking that a RD deck would've been great for this. My initial pass is always going the wrong way so that I can get close to fences. That's typically fine, but when the grass is 3' tall, you wind up essentially having to mow that row again in addition to the row beside it once you turn around. A RD deck doesn't care which direction you go; it just throws it behind you.

@ZXT , just curious ,did you use low range /  hi gear for that cutting ? getting the most efficient pto drive speed and deck speed for that field ?  have  r/d  decks on  my 3 horses , , always get good cut , if your deck is clean and your blades are sharp it always looks good . pete
