ranger 1,750 #11351 Posted May 16, 2021 (edited) Fetched my “New to Me”, ring roller home. (The larger one, the smaller one I use for making nice grooves in the ground for sowing grass seed). Repaired the “greasers”, new barrel nipples, originals had rusted away. C121 pulls it no trouble. Found some old spike harrow teeth to weld onto the bottom of the homemade ditching bucket, I don’t know why I bothered with old teeth, I’ve a few boxes of new ones, very expensive, cost me £1.00p at the local machinery sale, 😀 Paddock grass is now growing like mad, must sort out the sickle mower ready for hay cutting! 312-8 has got to the point where I must do something with it. It’ll run fine mowing, then decide to cut out. When spun over on the starter, the engine spins over with no compression, until it cools down a few minutes later, then compression returns, it starts and runs ok for a while. I’m sure it’s the exhaust valve binding when hot, everything else has been changed since this first happened! what I like about the, “New”, roller is, it was manufactured at a long gone engineering works in the town where I was born, 6 mls away. I would add a couple ounces of Marvel Mystery Oil to the gas should loosen it up, if that is not sold over there transmission fluid is pretty close to the same thing. ranger 1,750 #11353 Posted May 16, 2021 I’ve tried all sorts of things, Magnum engines were known to suffer from this issue, A factory bulletin instructed dealers to ream the valve guides slightly larger to resolve this. I built a stainless steel silencer after the original rusted through. I took the original apart and copied it, but added a high level stack. Although it ran fine, it is phenomenally quiet. I suspect the increased back pressure, and the fact that the horizontally oriented silencer, (restricting airflow past the engine) contributed to an already potential problem. Cutting the stack, (outlet extension), helped, along with turning the silencer 90 degrees to “unshroud” the cylinder fins, but the problem is still there if the weather is warm. Doug. pfrederi 17,741 #11362 Posted May 16, 2021 Needed a mule drive for my third Electro 16. I have a pile I got at an auction years ago, most with issues. So I grabbed two and made one nice one. It was a Pete Lena kind of project. Lots of cleaning threads and lubing. Popped the grease seals off and repacked the bearings. Sounds good now. Pete would probably not like my choice of lube. No fancy red 500 degree stuff (If my mule drive hits 500 degrees Ii have a bigger problem) I use GAA...(That is Grease Automotive and Artillery for you civies...My M37 and M274 have survived on it for years. Some of the gear Wheel Horses are running GO-90...Gear Oil 90w) 3

ebinmaine 67,544 #11364 Posted May 16, 2021 Got up this morning and had some lovely cowboy 🤠 coffee ☕. The local inhouse cook made us up some breakfast of our own eggs 🍳. Her daughter's fresh pig turned into sausage by Trina. And some very good and rarely eaten bread. Me, my old ball n chain, and her old bat mom spent some time in the woods processing firewood today. The two ladies split up two good piles o wood and also stacked some. I popped the Mckissick chipper off Cinnamon Horse C160 and used Trina's trailer to haul out a couple loads. 4 5

Just waiting on a gasket and the 315 will be back in service just in time for some side work at the neighbors house. Also got all the attachments and storage area organized finally. 5
JCM 9,169 #11366 Posted May 16, 2021 I'm on the replacing seats kick now.Just did the 418-A and now it's the 312-8's turn. Picked up this NOS seat years ago, the date on it is 2006. The one I removed is going on the 310-8 and is still in very nice condition. 9

JoeM 7,874 #11371 Posted May 17, 2021 (edited) Started up the WH Custom Truck, went on first try. Tried the hydraulic bed and took a video. Couple details and it will be ready to show. The truck has the has dual hydraulic controls, one for the bed the other for the original deck / rockshaft lift. Got some crazy idea I may want to plow snow with it some day. I also has a rear rockshaft if I want to put the sleeve hitch on and use a box scraper. Edited May 17, 2021 by JoeM 3 8
