Lane Ranger 10,968 #8078 Posted December 8, 2020 Going to tear into an RJ transmission today to see what good I might be able to save from this one! Not sure why I waited until cold weather to tear into this one (I have two others to work on also awaiting attention) but I was motivated this am! Started out with making oatmeal cookies with raisins and walnuts! Anyway, a good sign that all the drive side case bolts came out east so maybe not a lot of rust of water damage! Maybe we will see. 5

Greentored 3,214 #8082 Posted December 9, 2020 The 701 got a new front axle bolt, some bushings to fix the steering wear, a couple ‘tie rod savers’. Determination made it’s not original paint but I love the look of it, so it got a pair of Terry’s decals. Oh, and starting on a ‘restored’ WH lantern to go with the patina one. 3

D_Mac 8,619 #8086 Posted December 10, 2020 Finished up the 857. Ordered some rubber wheel hub/dust caps from @GlenPettit. Only other thing I want to get for it would be the piece that goes into the slot hitch so I can tow a cart behind it. It really runs great, starting to like it more and more. 6

We just don't bother to shut anything down for snow. Where the plow mounts to the axle hitch there is a three-quarter rod right at the end of the frame. From what I understand most long frames have a second set of holes and you can move that rod forward on the frame to be used on a short frame tractor. Greentored 3,214 #8090 Posted December 10, 2020 @ebinmaine perfect, mine has the two sets of holes. Thanks buddy! I think it'd look good on the 701 once that's ready to go.

I think it'd look good on the 701 once that's ready to go. been a long time since I fooled with a standard (long wheelbase / frame) plow set up and even longer with a short wheel base / frame set up - so someone please weigh in to correct I believe the important thing is to have the appropriate / correct rear axle bracket for the plow frame the short wheel base tractors used shorter plow frame - and the rear axle bracket attached in front of the rear axle ... the long wheel base tractors used the longer plow frame - and the rear axle bracket attached under the rear axle I believe the longer plow frames with two crossbars can be used on the short wheel base tractors - but with the appropriate rear axle bracket attached under the rear axle been a while since I looked at the rear axle bracket I have for my 704 - but it might be a tad different than the bracket I have on my 312-8 Edited December 10, 2020 by tom2p

JCM 9,168 #8096 Posted December 10, 2020 Removed the 48'' SD deck from the 312 today. Bottom looks clean, try never to cut wet or a damp lawn. Noticed a flat tire on the 520, removed and brought to a local tire shop, had a HD tube installed, total amount 15.00 for the tube and 10.00 for the labor, back home re install tire and wheel, weight and chain, go for a trail ride on the 312. Back inside and cranked up the big wood stove in basement. 8
