Pullstart 62,889 #7851 Posted November 23, 2020 Since you have deestones already, you could run a 23x9.5 outside and 10.5 inside. Running them on the same wheels would likely make the inner tires taller.

Handy Don 12,232 #7857 Posted November 23, 2020 The quality of the original engineering, materials, and workmanship withstanding so many years of neglect really becomes obvious when enhanced by a patient and careful restoration. Nice work, there.
sqrlgtr 552 #7858 Posted November 23, 2020 @AMC RULES did you happen to rebush throttle shaft while rebuilding the carter?I have one that really needs it and just wondering how bad of a project it would be...

What's the carburetor that you need to work on? I've done a couple of those and they're fairly straightforward. Least or most fun thing depending on how you look at it is probably getting the tiny little screws out of the throttle shaft. Probably have to grind the end off because they are staked in place.

AMC RULES 37,130 #7865 Posted November 23, 2020 Well I was in the process of rebushing the throttle shaft before I twisted one of the brass screw heads off. See these prices?Talk about a subject that needs it's own thread. WOW!

I've had a few Kohler K Series heads off/on the past few years. 8 HP through 16 HP. All singles. Between 1 and 3 bolts gained a bit after a heat cycle on ALL the engines I've done. I do realize there are different schools of thought on this depending on who you ask. I've never personally met anyone that doesn't do it but I'm not in the rebuilding or race world. The way I see it, retorque them. If they move, great. If not, great. You lost nothing but a few minutes of time. I can't comment on the sanding/planing for a good running engine as all the ones I've had apart did have slight gasket leaks. None of ours were out of plane by much but all got at least a touch up on the sandpaper taped to glass we use. When in doubt, Replace the head bolts
AMC RULES 37,130 #7868 Posted November 23, 2020 Thankfully, I was successful in drilling out that pesky broken off screw, thereby saving my throttle shaft. 1
AMC RULES 37,130 #7869 Posted November 23, 2020 If you plan to rebush this carb, then yes, you're going to have to drill out this carb body to accept the bushing.
Tractorhead 9,064 #7870 Posted November 23, 2020 Yes that maybe sounds a little to a waste of Time by retighten after a Seattime, but that still depends on the type of Engine. Older Cast iron Engine Headscrews are just massive Bolts, newer Engines have mostly expansion screws they shall be replaced after each Cylindrehead Service because the stretched. That was an Advice i learned from the old Mercedes Engineer, who also tuned several newer Engines. He didn‘t retighten this Raceengines because of expansionscrews. He also teaches me the Seat time‘s is only to use on older Cast Iron Engines. On Expansion screws it is not needed, because they be a little overtighten to bring them to the max force for what they be built for. That expansion was the cause of their names.
