8ntruck 7,018 #7726 Posted November 18, 2020 (edited) Got a little seat time today. Started by tinkering with my old MTH chopper/shredder. It has been dormant for about 15 years, so I was planning on a carb rebuild. Before I tore into it today, I splashed some fresh gas into the tank and gave it a shot of carb cleaner. To my suprise, it started on the first pull! So, I put more gas in it, moved it over beside the mountain of leaves (several years worth) that have accumulated at the end of the road and started shredding. Kept going until the gas ran out. Turned a noticeable portion of that pile into good looking mulch. Got the Horse out, hitched the cart to it and proceeded to distribute the mulch around my property where it will be beneficial. Next time I see my neighbor, I'll ask if he wants to turn some mulch into his garden. That will give me more playtime with the shredder and the Horse. My wife took a sewing class a couple of towns away. She came home with some neat work, and the news that she bought a new sewing machine. The price had 5 digits - BEFORE the decimal point! It is a very capable machine, she got it at a very deep discount, a rebate, and over $1,000 of attachments thrown in at no cost. She is good enough that she will make good use of the machine. With that kind of deal, the margins on sewing machines must be pretty good Of course, I informed her that now she has no right to complain if another Wheel Horse or two show up. @pullstart - I'll look after one of your big wheel tractors for you if you need more room. I'm even close enough that you can come visit it. Edited November 18, 2020 by 8ntruck 5
Pullstart 62,913 #7727 Posted November 18, 2020 @Jhook the only way to truly test the transmission is to get it warm then test it on a load... pushing or pulling in either direction. Only then will you know if there is slippage.
Pullstart 62,913 #7728 Posted November 18, 2020 Good news y’all! After some cleaning and organizing, I don’t much need to get rid of any big wheels! I didn’t:t realize I needed to, but some here think I aughtta! I even had some time to spin around and think of what I’ve done! 2

Thank you for not posting a picture! My wife is an avad sewer and has five machines (or more) including an embroidery machine that has to be connected to a computer. Each one cost more than any of my tractors. She was looking over my shoulder when I began reading your thread and if there had been a picture I would have been doomed. 1

Except with different sized patches and only black and white, with occasional red vinyl!

As part of the demo on this machine, they showed it sewing through a dozen layers of denim. My wife says that it should sew seat vinyl. She also says that if you send a picture of you on your tractor, she can embroider it on a shirt or jacket. 1
Tractorhead 9,064 #7738 Posted November 18, 2020 Try today to tuneup the Engine Pulley, because with no tyres and Rims not much Fun.. I know i have to be patience for the Rim’s, but that‘s my hardes. Patience is definitively not my strenght... 🤪 but i was able to wait a Month for my Horse, so i hope that task goes quicker...🚜 let‘s see they told me it needs several Day‘s for prepare and another few Day‘s for Finish... 🤪 forecast tell‘s something about „snow“ at the Weekend... 🤬😢🤔 common, that‘s not fair So i just have to imagine the Final result...🤤 ok ok, i know what patience means.. but hey i can’t ride my Horse between this Day‘s... 😢
Lane Ranger 10,968 #7739 Posted November 18, 2020 I took off my 36 inch mower deck on my B-80 today and put on my 42 inch snowplow. I also took the 854 out for a spin and warm up. Must have been about 52 or 53 degrees this afternoon but nice and sunny! Good solar power charging weather! I hooked up rear of plow to rear hitch and went to attach short lift link but not reaching! I forgot I moved the rear rod forward for my 854 tractor last year! So I dropped plow frame and repositioned the 3/4 hitch rod. I also used a new short link for the lift that I bought several years ago. I use to use a loose chain link. Everything working fine on the test run! No need for chains here as we rarely get more than 8 to ten inches of snow! But who knows what this year could bring - the track record does not give me confidence in a mild winter! 1
Chris G 3,296 #7740 Posted November 18, 2020 @DennisThornton that snow blade was originally for a old wards walk behind. I fabbed it up to mount to the suburban and used it for several winters. Its a reversible blade. Was alot of fun! I actually passed the tractor and blade along to others to enjoy these days. But i sure moved alot of snow with it! 5

I have an old posting somewhere about the building -do a search for McKim Observatory on Red Square and it should pop up. Very neat brass telescope made in London, England and a center timer clock mechanism to keep the telescope aligned to what you are viewing. Some surprises some not but I know a guy that fabricates and welds. This girl has the most brazing I have ever seen on a tractor. Lots of broken bones this poor girl has suffered!
