ohiofarmer 3,276 #7651 Posted November 16, 2020 The C-160 lives! I finally got it to crank and spark. It was the cable from the load side of the solenoid to the starter that was tarnished and a bit loose at the crimp. It looked like new and my lying eyes deceived me until the test light probe made the connection.. A little carb spray and she lit off a few licks. 4

Maybe they didn't invent them yet in '64?? https://www.mcmaster.com/roll-pins/coiled-spring-pins-6/ Friend has a big rotary rake (Kuhn brand made in Germany) uses double roll pins as there is a lot of stress on the arms. The spiral pins actually have less shear strength than regular slit pins. 1/4" x 2 spiral 5500 lbs shear a split pin same size 7000 lbs. Personal experience the overrunning clutch on my Farmall M when she is running the bush hog 600 has a pin to hold it on the PTO stub shaft. I had been using a spiral pin and it failed one day. fortunately I heard a change in sound and got it slowed down before it failed still exciting having that PTO shaft flopping around. Have use split pins since no problems.. If a single split pin is stronger than a spiral i would imagine two of them would be even better.

New style hoods and used up old style fenders. 1
Jhook 849 #7666 Posted November 16, 2020 Going to track down some steel for the loader subframe build this week before i go away to NH for the weekend. No time to work on the loader project at all til most likely the weekend of thanksgiving. Oh well gotta work to pay for these little machines i have to have. Hopefully can at least get the frame mocked up and a belt tensioner built for the hydro pump so it will stop slipping 1
Tractorhead 9,064 #7667 Posted November 16, 2020 Removed the Tyres, so i have at Rear a „Wheel less Horse“ for a moment... popped of one tyre by hand, what was a fight but a completely remove from the Rim is impossible by hands because of the Stiffness of the rubber even the other tyre sits on it’s Rim like for eternity.. cannot be popped off by handy without heavier tools. But that‘s not a problem at all, i will stop by tomorrow at a Fella‘s tyre workshop to remove both tyres from the rims. After that, both Rim’s go a local sandblasting Company few Valley’s down, to prepare for the Finish. curious how they come out if finalized. Stay tuned. 😎 4

Jhook 849 #7670 Posted November 16, 2020 New pins on the right side loader arm today. No grease on anything as it will all need to be painted anyways, i just dont want to keep messing with the loader with worn out pins. Looked at the trans for a few. Dont know anything about them, dont see any obvious issues. Need to lift the machine up soon and wash the trans so i can start to find the problem(leak) if im lucky its a loose filter but i doubt it.

Guessing they came down from Lake Superior. A couple have had windows and a service door cut in and just for grins gonna check them out when headed up this Friday.
