What have you done to your Wheel Horse today?

Lotsa little things going on in preparation for fall ending.

Hit the bottom of the deck with POR-15 and then black spray paint. This deck ain't rotting out. Also installed 3 brand new blades.

Brand new blades, what a luxury. I've been working off this stack of well used ones

I also started some bodywork with more POR-15 and have a can of original Toro red courtesy of the previous owner

February 2016? It's still good! I topped off the water and put it on my trickle charger to let it desulfate the battery for a few days.

And finally, some little rat bastard field mice made a nest in my Kohler and chewed up the spark plug wire, causing a no-start issue. New coil assembly is on order.

Stormy set on cruise control in 2nd gear... ran the Middleville 400 while my little niece took her nap today!

We started to get a bit chilly, but managed to stay warm enough to get a good rest!

Stopped by my friends house to visit my 857 that a picked up a few weeks ago. Dying to get it home to start working on it. I did wipe it down a bit while I was over there. I got my front decal from @Vinylguy and I am waiting on my hood ornament and hood latch knob from @76c12091520h. I am going to shorten the throttle cable on it and put the chains and wheel weights on the rear tires and mount the plow. Cant wait to get it all together. Might even look for a deck for it.... Who Knows !!

Whoa  here Mac... that 857 is a fine lookin resto. Needs work?  Well may be ditch or relocate the starter solenoid and re-route the throttle cable.

Speaking of 857s anybody see Howard @857 horse around lately  @roadapples? His heath always bothers me.

Kinda sorta sexy, ain't it?

:confusion-confused:                    So, this is going on a "nut roaster" and will vibrate between your legs.    Guess it could be considered sorta sexy in a rather kinky way.          :hide:

There were definitely a couple in there when I cranked the engine... Their mashed up corpses were at the bottom of the fan shroud. Wish I took a picture of the huge nest I pulled out of there. And it was only sitting a couple of weeks in the shed.

Yeah the way I have them fanned out you can't really see, a number of them the cutting edge is pretty ground down. I hacked one up for a project and they are some hard steel.

Can you say Damascus steel knives?  I wish I had a blacksmith station!

Trying to establish some sort of electrical base line in the sweet 16 c-160.   I am like you guys, just want to hear it run. the PO had tried for a couple of years to get it to start and i knew it was not making spark, so last night i started from the battery out. first the battery cable ends needed shrink tube at the ends , and the ends had paint on them, so very little contact. i was able to get a plastic abrasive "wire'" wheel on all the connections including the solenoid and starter lugs. I was shocked to see that the hot side of the solenoid lug had the threads worn away in the middle where four cable ends were connected .  They were loose and just wore the threads away. No wonder it has no spark.  The ignition switch system is just a hot lead to the coil using the light switch. The starter switch is a push button which gets hot because it does not utilize the solenoid.  i stole a correct switch from another tractor and will try to move forward today

Like a lot of us I've had more than one instance over the years of near complete befuddlement at the modifications that previous owners have made.

One of my very interesting electrical bird's nests was in a tractor where the PO had replaced the five prong blade type switch with a four prong post type automotive switch and I don't think they ever had it running after that .

Between the switch and the terminals they spent well over twice what they would have for the new correct switch....
