Can i use regular lucas gear oil like i put in my 315-8 in the 1962 4 speed? Its currently running dirty water and would like to change that out this weekend😂

from 100 cc on up. , yes. a few, all Hondas    1979 CB750.. just like tractors, they found me. I probably had the most fun on this one

Not mine but I did see this little beauty in a shop the next town over from me. Not for sale of course. Original paperwork in the bag next to it said it was a 551. Looked complete.

No dibs. Guy that helped us said it’s been in there for a long time. Hasn’t been started in ages. The business is a small engine/bicycle/refillable gas cylinder business all in one. I asked if there had been any wheelhorse dealers in the past around there and he said no but then pointed at the tractor and smiled. I break my neck all day looking at stuff while I’m out and around. Lot of neat stuff out in the back country

Yes any w 85-90 gear oil will be good. If you look up a chart of oil weights 40 weight automotive oil an 85 gear oil is almost the same weight.

Thinking yesterday a little arround  on a quick inbetweenproject for the Weekend, when Mart‘l

stop by and told me i have something for ya.

Think it‘s a John Deere, but i don‘t be sure...

Than i thinkering for the Weekend, i didn‘t like the Tiller on the Front of the Beast, but i need to rework my Field.

 

So first try will be the Plow on the Beast, curious if this will work.

After that i think i will try the Tiller but differently than i had it in use until now.

 

first Check if my Plan could work.

 

So i firstly dismount the Handlebar to reduce unneeded Weight.

 

 

don‘t look Bad at all. Close but enough gap to lift it completely with a short Lever.

 

So i welded it on a Piece of Flat Steel, where i drilled a 3/8“ hole before to be able to bolt it on.

 

To be able to use the Hitch without lot‘s of force i keep it as short as possible.

 

 

Lifting works with fair ammount of Force on the Lever.

 

The best is, i can regulate the tilling depth easily with the Leverscrew.

Love it.

On Weekend i will test, it if it‘s work and last as i expect.

I installed a new hour meter and painted my heat shield and muffler on my 94' 520H with Rustoleum High Heat Flat Black.

All of this started with a good cleaning...

New battery, new coil, new plugs, new fuel pump, new fuel petcock, new fuel filter, new fuel line, new rear tire, new oil pressure switch, new oil filter, new oil, new oil filter grommet, new hydro filter, new oil in hydro, new fuse block, and wiring repairs, clean and grease all wire terminals, new bulbs in dash, new nylon bushings at motion and hydraulic control levers, replaced air intake hose(used), replaced plastic flywheel cover(used).

@Shed If the soil has been plowed/tilled a Suburban will pull it. You will need rear weight for traction and front weight to keep the front wheels on the ground. Depending on the soil and the amount of soil preparation will influence the amoun tof weight needed.

Thanks the ground will be prepped I have a lot of sand I live on which must have either been a glacier deposit or an old lake I have all cobble and sand I have found fossils of fish. One neat thing is rock that are shiney metallic blue. But the jang planter was made to be a hand push walk behind so I kinda figured the suburban would be able to but cant hurt to ask. I'm making a mount on the front for a 75 pound suit case weight from the big tractors

JHOOK , yes you can use that gear oil , also change out that shift boot , probably the cause of that moisture ,as lee1977 said the oil weight is close to 40 wt oil , so you might use the 40 weight first , for the initial flush and drop after some road miles and oil heat. make sure on your oil flush drop to jack up the front end for a more thorough drain. found a couple of flushes along with road time and every gear and hi/lo range distance really gets it done , pete
