Good luck finding a 50-60 year old person with no scars like that... I feel like it’s just a story to tell :handgestures-thumbupright:

Back story. I purchased this recently. It hadn’t run in two years. Mice moved in and things looked bad. So at the advice of you guys I started with electrical and trying to get it started. Today I added a new battery and new ignition switch. I put a in-line 30 amp fuse and more...

...I also did more cleaning and exploring. I discovered what appears to be the K301S bolted only on the left side of chassis. Is this the right engine for this chassis? It’s suppose to a 1277 WH from 1967. Can anyone explain? I’m not that concerned at this point, but curious.

I also attempted to drain oil from K301S engine. I added about a quart of oil as a precaution. I was never able to find a drain plug. Is this drain plug? It didn’t make sense. How does this work? Should I remove the entire stem?

Installed the (now loaded) rear tires back on the tractor. And threw on one of the hubcaps i recently got in the mail, probably the best shape out of the 4. I like it now just have to decide on a repaint color or what im going to do to them. Towing all day m-f and 3 overnights a week doesnt leave me any daylight to wrench on this thing. Also gotta do shift boot and change trans fluid asap as it now looks milky when it didnt a few weeks ago. And you can see the cab still sitting on my trailer waiting for 2 more windows to be sewn in. Slowly but surely.

DID THE ENGINE START? No... but it tried to turn over. I was mainly concerned about whether I wired everything back correctly. Thanx to wheelhorseforum.com and ISAVETRACTORS.com I hope this week it will run. This time with gas and a new spark plug. FYI...I’m not an engine mechanic! Since this K301 sat for many years fuel appears to be dried up. What is the proper way to refuel and start up. I may replace carb after it’s running.

That is the drain plug. It should point DOWN. It's possible it's that way to keep the pipe threads from leaking.

Please don't.

Rebuild it.

Couple cans of brake clean and a gasket kit. Super easy.

New after market carbs are not your friend.

I’m not sure I have the technical skill. I will have to research it later on.

If you have the skill to swap out a battery and an ignition switch you are capable of rebuild a carb. Only need a couple screwdrivers, look at a diagram and take your time. Very simple especially a single carb.
