If I only had a brain....... err lathe!

I bet with some care, a fella could do a hitch pin without a lathe!

So do these tires make my tractor look fat? Showed them to @Achto and he called me a fat slob. Well he's kinda right but it's his fault feeding me pulled pork and captain's and building fat tractors that give me stupid ideas! !  After a bit of discussion and some more name calling yah they don't' look right... off to look for some wider say maybe 10.50's ags that run wide for the rear. Sure does steer nice tho! :)

I posted a thread the other day, "What's the hardest thing to do on a WH" and @The Tuul Crib reminded me my hitch is frozen, so I set out to fix it yesterday.

I got really lucky. Tried a few taps with a lead hammer, she didn't budge. Slapped it hard in the other direction and it moved!
"The level of violence increases exponentially with the difficulty of the job" - My neighbor Dave. :text-lol:

Pulled off the left rear tire and I was lucky enough to get it out in about 10 minutes. No heat, no bug juice. Just a big-ass lead hammer and a whole lot of smackin'.

The shaft wasn't too bad and I was going to chuck it up in the lathe and take off a few thousands up but decided I didn't want to undersize it too much.
Off to the grinder for a wire wheel job.

MVIMG_20200920_151214.jpg.f4c259b65f0c17c5cbe213d7f82a9079.jpg

Then I decided to chuck it up anyway, sandpaper and scotchbrite. I also decided to find center so I can use a punch if needed and eased the edge a bit more in case I need to get violent in the future, I'll have a 'bit more mushroom space' (I'm trademarking that term lol)

MVIMG_20200920_153755.jpg.d2e64e65f48a8ef55992ddf1540e4ca2.jpg

I took this pic just because of those 'cute' tiny curls just laying there. Aww. :D
MVIMG_20200920_154140.jpg.a255ff1098673dc69b272af25ec5a600.jpg

Buttered the ever loving heck out of it with "silver stuff that never comes off your hands" and called it a day.

found if you regularly put lubricating oil on a rusted area , like that cross pin , the regular movement of the horse , will let things move about with out rusting.  by the way , nice job on that pin , pete

Acceptable norm's?? How many more of me are there??

As for hitch pins, I use the same as Lee. Makes for changing hitches quicker and no scratting about look for circlips that have gone a.w.o.l.

if you were truly acceptable you wouldn't be hanging around with this lot,  for sure.

But that's okay though because you are exceptional.

Couple better pics of the cab. The front bracket that bolts to the floorbloards looks like it will fit great with some slight bending. Only part im missing is the left side that goes around the floorboard. No big deal. Rest of it is in better shape than i thought. Rear mount will have to be fabbed up as my seat bolt holes are only 14 inches apart and the mount on the cab frame needs 2 holes 18 inches apart. Also no big deal. Ordered some 40 gauge (1mm) thick marine window plastic to replace 3 windows. 2 yards should do it. Pretty excited to get it cleaned up and mounted in the next week or so. Going to attempt to make it somewhat of a quick release cab where i can simple pull underneath my deck where i have 2 straps hanging down, lift the cab off the tractor, then pull away. Very happy with it for the 125 i paid.

Calendar shot needed here Madge with those nice New England fall colors! :handgestures-thumbupright:

Went on a quick diet here... moved the spacers outboard with appropriate shims...think the clearance is ok?? 'Bout 1/4"

Still the rears need to come out a tad I think.

I found this looks much better imho Jim,

that rear to front give a more accuracy line.

another possibillity could may be put under rear tyres distance plates with 1,5“ - 2“

Should be fine Jim. As long as there's no movement.

I don't even have that much on Cinnamon Horse.

I bought some spacers on the flea Bay a few months back. You'll have to change to studs and nuts and expand the holes in your existing wheels just a hair. I can PM you more info if you're interested...

Check out the lug nuts EB I have studs in would just need to get some longer ones. I set up a bunch of my tractors with them.
